Honestly, can you really do better than a red and white 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible? You can't beat the look, the first-year small block Chevy V8 offers plenty of performance, and there are a lot fewer of these around than you'd expect. If you like the '50s, there are few cars more iconic than this.
Gypsy Red and India Ivory are quintessential colors on a Bel Air convertible, and if you're looking for attention, you won't be able to escape it whenever you're behind the wheel of this car. The paint and bodywork were done a few years ago, so it's not perfect, but for a cruiser this car will make grown men stop and stare as you motor past. Obviously the work was well done, and it has a great shine that you'll love polishing up on a Saturday afternoon and good panel gaps that suggest that this car has led a good life. An accessory continental kit is a very desirable period addition that's practical as well as stylish, opening up a lot of space in the trunk. The bumpers were re-chromed during the restoration and all the stainless was removed, straightened, and polished before being reinstalled and aligned. It is about as far from subtle as you'll find, but that's really the point, isn't it?
The interior is equally flashy and just as well restored. Wide bench seats will accommodate six in a pinch, and the pure 1950s look of the two-tone red and white upholstery will make everyone want a ride. Correct red carpets and new door panels complement the original dash and steering wheel, which are in truly excellent condition for their age. A modern gauge cluster from Classic Instruments fits into the original instrument panel and offers a more comprehensive view of the engine without disrupting the OEM look. The car also received seat belts for safety, although the original AM radio is still in the center of the dash and no need for any changes there. A white convertible top with a clear rear window fits well, but we all know that it's for emergencies only anyway. And as I said, the trunk is nicely finished and has plenty of room thanks to moving the spare to the rear bumper.
Nice to see a correct 265 cubic inch V8 under the hood, although it's been dressed up and slightly augmented to add a few horsepower. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and polished intake manifold are surely responsible for a nice bounce in performance and all the chrome and billet aluminum dress up makes the engine bay sparkle at car shows. Of note, there's a modern 12-volt alternator in place of the original generator and a great-sounding dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers for a 1950s sound. An automatic transmission means that this car is always ready to go and the suspension and brakes are pretty stock, so service is easy and it rides and handles with a vintage feel that's a big part of the experience. Painted steel wheels with beautiful factory hubcaps are wearing 205/75/15 American Classic wide whitewall radials that ride and handle great.
Complete with a set of stock valve covers, just in case you want a bit more of a factory look, this is a beautifully restored Chevy that's ready to drive and enjoy. Call today!

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

The mid-engine Corvette! We just saw blurry photos through the foliage, and are hearts are all aflutter because it means that this car is real. And it's the most " never before" Corvette since 1984. Which leads us to all kinds of wacky theories and speculation. Everybody knows something or heard from a guy. None of those guys (or gals) from GM are talking to Autoblog, to be clear. But that won't stop us from stirring the pot. Let's go over a few point-by-point. The pushrod engine will be replaced by an overhead-cam V8 Car and Driver has repeatedly reported that an overhead-cam engine will come after the mid-engine Corvette's debut with an old-school pushrod. We've heard the same thing firsthand, albeit from a source with no connection to the development of the Corvette or powertrain. "At some point two valves can't pass future emissions regulations," said the guy we know. While the pushrod engine is compact, the design makes it difficult - if not impossible - for sophisticated variable valve timing (and lift) systems that control combustion with more precision. Hasty conclusion: The pushrod engine has a finite life in front of it. This one's a lock, it's a just a matter of when. Bowling Green's new paint shop is really the mid-engine assembly line Credit to Reddit for this one. Like we said, everybody knows a guy. But let's look deeper. The new paint facility costs $439 million dollars and adds 450,000 square feet, almost half the size of the existing plant. Plus GM announced another $290 million in upgrades at Bowling Green Assembly. That sure sounds like a lot of money, but you can actually spend that much on a paint booth. Porsche spent 500 million Euros (about $561 million dollars) to add the Macan assembly to its Leipzig, Germany plant in 2014. Chrysler shelled out $850 million for a paint shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan. GM spent $600 million for a new paint shop at the Fairfax (Kansas City) plant. Honda, on the other hand, is working on a thrifty $210 million project in Marysville, Ohio that includes a 300,000 square foot expansion, and the low-volume Acura NSX facility only cost $70 million. Hasty conclusion: The square footage and cost could easily mean a new assembly line instead of (or in addition to) a paint line. And if the NSX plant was really that cheap, GM could have hidden a similar sum in its existing announcements.
