This is a very original, rare, and solid Chevy 210 series two door hard top. Out of approx 62,000 + hard tops built in 1953, only 14,000 or so 210 series cars were produced. The rest were Belairs. It only has 92,634actual miles on it. Very solid and straight body car with no signs of rust repair that I can see. All original body panels, floor pans, rockers, body mounts, fenders, door bottoms, etc. with no rust or repair work. The underside of this car looks to have been sand blasted to bare metal and painted black. Very nice job. See pics. ( the brown spots are just mud splatters from a country road with mud puddles ) The one re-paint is very shinny, smooth, and in great shape. Looks to be a single stage urethane enamel job. All of the stainless trim is in great shape. Chrome is presentable, but I would re-chrome both bumpers and grille. The grille is in great shape but it was painted chrome for some reason? I have both front and rear Chevrolet hood emblems that were removed. Both need re-chroming and new plastics if put back on. The hood bird is new reproduction. Have original in trunk also. Also have like new fender skirts and sun visors. New tune up items, belt, hoses, battery. Included is original wheels and hubcaps, and a power assist rack and pinion steering set-up for it, including the frame bracket. Suspension is all new including shocks. It was lowered the right way with dropped spindles and rear spacers. ( see pics ) New shocks, exhaust, brakes, Wide White Wall tires, etc. The wheels are rare and "REAL" original E T uni-lug all aluminum wheels. This car sits right, looks right, drives right, and stops right. You can drive it anywhere and get back home. All lights work. All gauges work. Radio and wipers do not work. Seat covers and door panels appear to be all original and still very nice except for some age stains. Headliner and carpeting has been replaced with new. Still has that great old car smell every time you open up a door. Glass is all good and rolls up and down as it should. Even the trim around the glass is in very good shape. The original 236 engine was completely rebuilt. The 3 speed transmission shifts great. Has a new clutch. Original spare still in the trunk.

This car could very easily put back to totally original condition for the purist.

Car runs out really well. Fly in and drive it home.

All in all, this is one of the nicest rust free cars of this style that I have come across for many years, and when was the last time you seen a 1953 Chevrolet 210 series 2 door hardtop for sale?

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
