Purchased near Fargo North Dakota from an estate of an elderly gentleman who ironically purchased it from the original owners' estate in 1983. A very clean and garage kept car that runs and drives fantastic. We installed a 4 corner airride suspension to give the car a great lowered stance and a more comfortable ride, this is a procedure that we have perfected in the last 20 years of doing this type of work almost on a daily basis, unlike most systems that are on the road which leak and don't perform properly, ours is trouble free and easy to operate and there is no maintenance needed, if you like, you can just set it and forget it!! The car has an excellent body but before the new paint was applied, had its fair share of stone chips, a few door dings, and a couple of scrapes so at first we thought we would just touch up the couple areas but then deciding the car was far too nice to not to give it a show quality paint job. We straightened all the dings and scrapes, we smoothed all the stone chips and painted the car with base - clear urethane. It came out so nice most people would have left it alone but we again decided as nice as the car is, it deserved a wet sand and polish of the clearcoat. The paint is beautiful and looks a foot deep. When reassembling the car, we purchased new rubber seals for the doors and trunk. We installed new sill plates that hold down the original rubber mat, new chrome outside door handles and seals. We polished up the original dog dish hub caps and installed them on a new set of custom built 18x8" and 20x8.5" Billet wheels available only through our shop. New tires installed at the same time. We color matched the center part of the wheel to give the car a factory but contemporary look. The interior is in very nice shape for its age, the front seat bottom is starting to show some age but being a survivor interior I would leave it as it for now. Everything works on the car, horn, signals, lights, wipers, etc. We installed a new exhaust, it still had the 52 year old factory system on it and we only changed it because we needed more clearance for the rear wheels. The fuel gauge was not functioning when we bought the car so we installed a new fuel sending unit to take care of the faulty gauge but we figured we may as well install a new gas tank since we have it out. A great little car that came well equipped in 1962 if you were a cheap old man, no radio, rubber mat, 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree. Enjoy it as is or throw in your dual quad 409 or LS3 in it and have even more fun. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call me at PatinaPlantation@Gmail.com 216-789-1647    OK, now here is the part I hate to mention only because eBay has become a breeding ground for jokers and squirrels, This is serious business not a game. this is for adults with integrity, not only me as a seller but you as a buyer. The last several successful listings I've had on eBay were non payers, flat out dreamers that thought bidding on eBay is fun and its no big deal to win an auction and than decide that they should have never done it whether they couldn't afford it or their wife wouldn't let them have it or whatever. There is a reason my feedback is squeaky clean, its because I HAVE INTEGRITY and I do the right thing. If you want to know the reserve, you will have to bid I know 100% that there are people who will not read the description and will call or email me asking how much, I know from experience those people will not buy this car or any car for that matter, they are dreaming for a great car for way under market and will troll ebay and never buy a thing, people who are serious will bid on the car. In my opinion the reserve is very reasonable. Those who bid and retract their bid will get blocked from any further bidding. Sorry for the rant

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet. Nissan sells 3,117 Leaf EVs in May, climbs over 3,000 for first time ever

Tue, Jun 3 2014

Chalk up a big win for the Nissan Leaf. In May, the world's most popular electric vehicle sold a record 3,117 units, the first time any pure electric vehicle has sold over 3,000 units in a month in the US (unless Tesla managed that feat but rolled the number into a quarterly report). This marks the 15th month in a row of record Leaf sales and the seventh where the Leaf was the top EV seller in the US. The challenge bar is set for someone to step up to compete with this all-electric wunderkind. Chevrolet did sell over 3,000 Volts once, in August 2013. The Leaf's one long-standing competitor, of a sort, is the Chevy Volt, which used to regularly outsell the Leaf but moved only 1,684 units in May. That's still an increase of 4.8 percent over 2013 but is part of a 4.5 percent decline in year-to-date Volt sales for 2014 compared to last year. The last time the Volt outsold the Leaf was October 2013. Chevrolet did sell over 3,000 Volts once, when it moved 3,351 in August 2013. Let's take another look at those 3,117 Leafs sold last month. They represent a 45.8 percent increase over May 2013, when 2,138 Leaf EVs were sold, so someone is doing something right in Japan and Tennessee. So far, Leaf sales in the US are up 36.4 percent year-to-date, to 10,389 EVs. That's just under half of the 2013 total, and it was accomplished in five months. In 2013, Nissan sold a total of 22,610 Leafs. Anyone want to hazard a guess where the total will be at the end of the year? As always, we'll have our detailed monthly sales write-up including other plug-in vehicles as well as hybrids and diesel car, up soon. For now, though, the big news is big Leaf sales. Read Nissan's press release below. Nissan Group reports May 2014 U.S. sales May 2014 May 2013 % Change Nissan Group Total sales (units) 135,934 114,457 +18.8 Nissan Division May sales 125,558 106,558 +17.8 Infiniti May sales* 10,376 7,899 +31.4 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan Group today announced total U.S. sales for May 2014 of 135,934 units, an increase of 18.8 percent over the prior year and a May record. Nissan highlights: Nissan Division set a May record at 125,558 sales in the month, an increase of 17.8 percent. This marks a monthly record for Nissan division in 14 of the last 15 months. May was the best-ever month for Nissan LEAF with 3,117 sales, an increase of 45.8 percent over the prior year. In May, LEAF passed 50,000 total U.S. sales since launch, further establishing it as the leader among electric vehicles.

Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line

Thu, Feb 9 2017

While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
