I am selling my 1960 chevrolet belair 2 door bubble top, as I sold my jeep and mach 1 to buy this, and really miss my jeep. This is a really nice car, that is solid and tight. It has a lot going for it, the space era styling with the wings, its been lowered, torq thrust wheels, a rare 348 tripower engine, and a Muncie 4 speed, in a real refreshing color!! I will go through the car ion stages.

DRIVETRAIN:  the car has a freshly rebuilt 1961 ge code high performance 348, not a truck block!! It has less than 100 miles on the engine. Previous owner had it professionally rebuilt. Has factory exhaust manifolds running through a brand new dual exhaust all the way out the back like factory! The 348 is running an Iskenderian hydrolic cam, with the 3x2 carb setup. It is running the progresive linkage. It still has the stock type distributor with a pertronix ignition inside. Has the original radiator, fan shroud, and fan, and it keeps it running cool like I should. Even running a generator to keep the car looking all period correct. The cam has a nice sound to it. The transmission is out of a 1967 chevelle, being a Muncie. It feels like a pretty close ratio, maybe an m-21. It shifts very nice and smooth, backed up by a hurst shifter with the vintage white ball. The rear end is still stock, not sure of the ratio, but seems to be in the 3:00-3:50 range. Runs smooth and tight, not overworking the 348 on the road. Still am need some final tweaking on carbs, and timing, but set pretty close, as I drove it about 40 miles to a show the other night, and ran great, and about 1/3 on temp gauge. Car has dropped spindles up front, and has been lowered, with disc brakes that work great!! Has torq thrust wheels all around, and gives it a very cool stance!!! Rear tires are a big 275x 60x 15.

INTERIOR: the seats were redone with an original style vinyl as we're the door panels. The headliner and carpet are still original. All the gauges work, temp, fuel, speedometer, oil light, and generator light. The horn sounds right, and blinkers work, high beams low beams, brakes, and running lights all function right. The emergency brake works right also. It was a little chilly he other night, turned on the heat, and warmed the inside right up!! Even listened to the old tunes on he factory straight line tuning am radio!! All windows roll up and down right, and close properly, even 1/4 windows crank open and seal right. All the vents work right also.Just a nice solid car!!

BODY: the car has a very nice clean solid body that was repainted some time ago, and just kept clean!! Firewall and trunk was painted at the same time, usually done in black to save time by most. All the trim is in nice shape, with just a minor knick in one of the little aluminum airplane points. I have 2 extra that go with the car. This is a hard car to get all the panels to line up right, as its big, and has a lot of curves. The original color is cascade green, as this was done in that color, with a touch of metallic in the paint. A very nice soothing color that is different. All the glass is clean, trunk locks and door locks work. Has the 348 badges on the trunk and grill. Passenger lower 1/4 panel looks to have been replaced at one time, and what a nice job was done!! I was told by previous owner, who had the car since the 90's, is believed to have 98,000 original miles on it. Carpet, and headliner show how it was cared for.

ENDING: this is a really cool, rare car, being a bubble top, and a belair to boot. Same car as the impala, just not having some extra trim, 3rd light, ect. This gets the attention with the looks, the rare 348/409 engine, tri power, and 4 speed. Just a neat different car at the show, built during the height of the space race winged and finned cars.
The reserve on tis will be under $23,000!! It is titled in my name, and insured through heacock classics for $35,000! Look at some of the others, going for mid teens for a project, to  mid 30's for a hot rod. This is a nice solid car. It passed the nsra 23 point inspection .

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Meet the Greenest and Meanest vehicles of 2016

Wed, Jan 27 2016

If you've been keeping track, you won't be surprised with the number one entry in this year's list of greenest cars from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In fact, the top three spots on the 2016 list are all the same as they were in 2015. After that, things get interesting. For one thing, this is the first Greenest list that doesn't have any purely internal combustion engine powertrain on it. Hybrids, yes, but if you want to be one of the top 12 greenest cars this year, you'd better have some sort of electric angle. ACEEE says that the conventional, gas-powered Smart Fortwo and Chevrolet Spark just missed the cut. In a statement, ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan said, "The 2016 scores are in, and plug-in electric vehicles are outpacing all other vehicle offerings in terms of environmental friendliness." Like last year, one of the noticeable vehicles missing from the green list is the Tesla Model S. One reason? ACEEE takes curb weight into account (lighter is better), and the Model S is a heavy beast. The ACEEE doesn't just look at the clean side of the ledger. It also puts out a "meanest" list. These are the vehicles that pollute the most, not only from their tailpipes, but also any pollution created during the entire manufacturing process, from mining the raw materials to the energy used to produce the vehicle at the factory. The entire list, from greenest to meanest, is done using a "cradle to grave" analysis. You can see how the ACEEE determines its rankings here, explore the entire greenest cars site here, or click through our galleries to see which vehicles are extra green (above) or extra mean (below) this year. 12: Mercedes-Benz GL550 4MATIC View 12 Photos More Electric Cars than Ever on Greenest Vehicles List Electric Vehicles Nab 9 out of Top 12 Spots in ACEEE's Environmental Vehicle Rankings Washington, DC: Despite a tumultuous year for the automotive industry, manufacturers have continued to offer exciting technology options for a growing vehicle market. Today at greenercars.org, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 19th annual comprehensive environmental ratings for vehicles. The following vehicles comprise the Greenest List for 2016: Greenest Score 1. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Convertible / Coupe 63 2. Chevrolet Spark EV 63 3. Fiat 500E 62 4. Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
