For Sale: Complete, original, running, driving 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door (post) sedan. Clear Texas title in my name ready to release.
This car is 100% original; body tag photo shows "1800" series, (V-8). "955" series (Two Tone Paint). Photos show car when found, and present day on the trailer in our storage facility.
This car did have rust in the trunk pan when purchased. The trunk pan has been professionally replaced. The new floor boards are in the boxes pictured in the trunk. The car still has rust in the floor pans, the driver's kick panel, and in the top of the driver's side rocker panel under the door sill plate. The right rear quarter panel was professionally replaced due to being damaged, (see below).
History: The car was owned by the original owner who left it to his brother to satisfy a debt over 35 years ago. The car was stored in a barn in East Texas for 22 years. Then, it was moved outside. It spent the last 13 years outside. The left rear quarter panel was side-swiped at some point by a tractor. We bought the car from the third owner. The car had no brakes, no emergency brake and no driveshaft. The front glass was cracked and there was no ignition or keys. The motor turned freely but it was not running. We got the original motor running; (which runs perfect), and we purchased all the parts to get her mechanically sound and complete from Auto City Classics in MN. The original 2-BBL carb was rebuilt by King Carbs of Florida. It still retains it's original build number on the carb body.
Additional Parts that will go with the car for the posted sale price: We have also purchased a date-stamped (late '57 October) running 283 4-BBL motor, complete from oil pan to oil bath 4-BBL air cleaner, and a spare Powerglide transmission that came out of a 1958 4-door that was being parted out. All of the spare parts, motor and transmission will go with the car at the time of sale. The additional parts you see pictured will also go with the car. They consist of a complete, restored, immaculate grill and turn signal lense bezzle front grill with down draft panels as shown, an emergency brake cable assembly, complete from pedal to cable ends, a near pristine right rear quarter panel, steering linkage, spare drive line components and spindles. All of these parts were obtained during our search for parts to make our car complete. The 4-BBL 283 that goes with the car has had a compression check. The low was 120 and the high was 124. The motor runs perfectly and has the ORIGINAL carb on it. Mileage on the odometer of the parts car when we pulled the motor & transmission was 82,300.
Our '58 is a registered, running, driving car. She has two sets of keys, all the door locks and trunk lock match and work as designed. She is in a climate controlled storage facility. The car does need a full restoration. The pictures show most of the details, but for clarification and full disclosure I am listing the following information:
The interior has been removed. The seats remain installed. The original Two-tone door panels were rotted out and retaining moisture. The carpeting was virtually falling apart. The headliner was virtually gone out of the car, but all the top bows remain. The original front glass, rear seal glass, and passenger door glass, have all been professionally replaced. The mileage on the car is original, 63,237 miles. The doors open and close as new, without one milimeter of sag. The rubber door seal that clips into the doors, all the way around, and weather stripping was also removed because it was rotted away. The windshield posts are free of rot and were professionally cleaned out, treated and the new seals installed when the glass was replaced. The rear glass seal was given the same treatment. Photographs are available of the channels in the body at these locations.
In short, we have done right by our car, with the intent to get her painted, inside and out, and keep her what she is, a numbers matching 1800 series 955 Original 2-door sedan. But, on our retirement budget, it is simply not possible to continue to do what is necessary, properly, to continue our efforts to bring the car back to her former glory. We will take any additional photos of the car that you require. We are also considering selling our diamond plate, steel decked, Big Tex trailer with Warn 8,000 lb winch with the car at the time of sale for an additional $2450.00. The trailer has 3500 lb axles, electric brakes, stow ramps made of 1/4" 2x2 plate steel, with side-slip storage, full size spare with mount and all LED lighting.
We are located 55 minutes NE of Austin, 9 miles East of Fort Hood, Texas, 45 minutes South of Waco, in Central Texas. The car, fully restored, is worth in excess of $44,000.00. We are not interested in negotiating much off our price. Thanks for your interest.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds
Tue, Mar 29 2016For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:
2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala
Fri, 31 May 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
