1957 Chevy Belair 2 Door Hardtop Barn Find Project Gasser Street Hot Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Irvington, Alabama, United States
1957 Chevy Belair 2 Door hardtop, This is a factory Larkspur Blue with Silver Vinyl with Black and Silver Pattern cloth interior. Let me start out by saying that this was someone else's project that they started along time ago and got part of the way into it and stopped and the car got put up into storage, and has been their ever since, till I got the car. The car is really straight and pretty solid as well. Their is rust but its easily fixed rust that's in some of the normal spots that you can buy patch panels for if you so choose. Just about everything for the car is either inside the car or in the trunk. I have not laid everything out and inventoried it, but just going throw the stuff, it appears to be all their, their maybe something small missing, but the large stuff is here. I know all the dash components is in the trunk in boxes. The steering wheel and column is also in their, the front and rear seats are in the car. The original door panels are also in the trunk. From what I can tell, all the major chrome and trim pieces are here and inside the car. The frame of the car has already been blasted and primed. and the original front suspension pieces are in the trunk as well blasted and primed. The car has another set of suspension pieces bolted all up to the front to make it roll around. The motor and trans that you see pictured is a setup that I bought from a friend of mine and was planning to put in the car to put the car back to as close to original as possible. The motor itself is a 1957 power pack motor, and the trans is a power glide automatic. The motor and transmission came out of a 1957 Nomad that was nut and bolt restored and was a AACA judged car. My friend bought the car and drove the car around to a few shows and never really liked how the original car drove, so he took the drivetrain out and the suspension and upgraded the car to a pro touring car that he could enjoy. and that's how I came about the motor. I know that its a good motor and transmission and came out of a running and driving car. The car itself is a factory V8 car and that's why I choose this motor to go in it. This is a great project for someone to finish, that's going to make someone a great car. Very good car to start out with, specially one that is just about complete. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off Ebay if sold. The car is also sold as is with no warranty. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car, please fill free to ask and I will gladly answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks and God Bless Charlie 251-751-7530 |

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid
Wed, Feb 18 2015Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.
Motor Trend wheels the 2015 Corvette Z06
Tue, Nov 25 2014The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is capable of some absolutely wild metrics. Want proof? Carlos Lago from Motor Trend is here to break it all down. 60 miles per hour? 3.2 seconds. 60 to 0? 91 feet. Lateral acceleration? A staggering 1.16g, a figure that is the highest MT has ever recorded for a vehicle that isn't a race car. It's an utterly astonishing piece of work, this Z06, and just when you think it can't possibly get any more impressive, Randy Pobst hustles an auto-equipped Z06 around Road Atlanta in just 1:30. Aside from the eight-speed auto, Pobst's Z06 had the most aggressive aerodynamic package, the so-called Stage III. Take a look at the 650-horsepower Z06 in Motor Trend's latest video.
