1957 Chevrolet 2 Dr. Hardtop Custom Rod

I am proud to list this 57 Bel Air custom rod. It is a wonderful driving and well equipped ride. It was built with nice components and thought out and assembled very well. This 57 Bel Air has power steering, power brakes(disc front - drum rear) air conditioning, and an automatic transmission with overdrive. It was built for comfortable and dependable driving with long trips in mind. At 70 mph the tach reads 2,200 rpm and has great passing acceleration. The engine has less than 2,000 miles on it. The car was built about 5 years according to the previous owner who installed this almost new engine. The floors, inner rockers, body braces, and trunk pan are all solid and there is no under coat on the under carriage. The body is solid and nice, bright work is nice and the bumpers appear to have been replated recently. All of the lights, horn, instruments, wipers, stereo, and windows work. This Bel Air was born in built in Atlanta and was born a V-8 car, VC vin #.

This cool ride has an almost 350 cid Chevy engine with a  Edlebrock 4bbl. carb, K&N air cleaner, aluminum intake manifold, ceramic coated headers, billet valve covers, billet pulleys, chrome alternator, aluminum radiator with over flow tank, flex flan and electric fan, power steering, power brakes with disc on front, 200R4 transmission with overdrive and the stock drive shaft, new front shocks & rear air shocks, Vintage air conditioning and heater set up, electric wiper motor,  21/2" exhaust with flow master type mufflers, exhaust is all welded (no clamps), 17" American Racing Hopster polished aluminum wheels (matching spare wheel in the trunk) new Riken Raptor tires (245/45 ZR17 on front)  (255/50 ZR17 on rear) LED tail lamps, and much more. To much $$ to count. Buy one already built and ready to go and not have to wait a year or two to build one. Spring is just around the corner.

The interior is very nice. It is styled like the original, it is vinyl with cloth inserts. It has 4 sets of seat belts for safety. The dash and gauges are all original and has a modern 3 gauge set mounted under the dash and a tachometer mounted on the steering column. It has a custom audio radio, am-fm, cassette and mp3 compatible deck in the dash that fits like the original with no modifying, It has 2- 6x9 clarion speakers mounted under the rear package tray. It has a nice custom steering wheel that fits the looks of the car well, medium tinted glass, 4 Chevrolet rubber floor mats, The air and heat work very well for driving year round.

The mileage showing is 94,621. I am representing it as exempt due to age of the car. The car is sold as-is and where is with no written warranty. The car is located in Wentzville, Mo., 35 miles west of St. Louis on I-70. Please come inspect it and take it for a spin, you will really enjoy the way she runs and drives. A deposit of a $1,000.00 to Pay Pal is due 24 hrs. of the end of auction. The remaining balance is due within 72 of end of auction. I can help assist in transporting nation wide or world wide. I set my reserves very reasonable, so please only bid if you intend on purchasing this car. Good luck and thank you for viewing my auction. I also reserve the to stop the auction at any time. It is for sale locally too. Please call me with any questions (806) 477-2201, thanks, Greg.

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
