1957 Chevy Belair four door, an affordable car that you can put the family into and cruise around or take to a car show.   This car has the original drive train, with a 235 six cylinder, power glide transmission and torque converter that was rebuilt about 2k miles ago.  Car runs great, you can literally turn the key and drive it away, it's a nice daily driver that still has opportunity to make it as nice as you want.

The color is PPG Tropical Turquoise and India ivory, just as the trim tag calls for, the interior is Turquoise and  Harbor blue / two tone.  Brand new 80/20 rug and new sill plates at each door opening.  Rear seat has about a 1 inch tear at the seam, other wise it's virtually trouble free.  Front seat has a large tear right at the seam, I've put in foam and covered the front seat with a cover.  Rear windshield rubber is new, package tray is new, headliner is new, windows garnishments have been correctly painted to match car.  Windlace has all been replaced with correct color matching Turquoise.  Newer tires and correct hubcaps installed, along with new brakes and wheel cylinders rebuilt.  Frame of car has not rot or rust holes, in fact still ahve most of the factory undercoating still applied.  Floors are solid, body supports all intact and solid.  Front end suspension checked out fine, wheel bearings fine, shocks feel good.  Dog legs both sides were replaced, trunk solid, metal replaced along inner fender wells and seam sealed.  Lights work, blinkers work, license plate light works, horn works, wipers are vac operated, work but slow.  Car has single exhaust, in decent shape, no leaks or noise.
Car will be sold with Bill of Sale, title was lost.     This car would make a great daily drivers while you're restoring your two door hard top or rag top.  I have a brand new set of chrome rocker moldings that I have not taken out of the box yet, not sure I like them on, so I was going to remove the clips and paint the lowers instead.

Car is a manual steering, manual brakes cars, no ac.  Numbers matching car, decent looking, could used to be color sanded more and some scratches serviced.  I've got some extra paint, both colors for you to use as touch up / repair.

All keys works, doors all work, close, hood needs a new spring so prop rod assist is required.  No leaks, all gauges work, including fuel, and has the electric compass from factory.  Door panels are all in nice shape, glass is near perfect, all windows operate fine, wing window locks are not broken, cigar lighter is missing, radio is installed but power not hooked up.

This is a no reserve auction, the car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction should car sell local.  If you have less than 10 bids, contact me before bidding or I'll have to cancel.  Please bid what you can afford, this is an auction for sale of the car, not for the right to inspect.  Please call and email to come see and test drive the car, if your shipper needs help, I will assist to get it loaded for you.

I also have a big block 468 / turbo 400 56 chevy belair I'll be listing, copper and white, four door, excellent car.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom glitzes up volume model [UPDATE]

Thu, Feb 12 2015

UPDATE: The original prices listed in Chevrolet's press release did include destination charging, despite not being specifically called out as such. We've edited the story to reflect this. The Chicago Auto Show's reputation as the home of special edition debuts grows stronger today, as Chevrolet is complementing the news that it'd unveil the Silverado Midnight Edtion and Colorado GearOn special editions in the Windy City with the debut of the Silverado Custom. And yes, it's different than the higher-spec Custom Sport that debuted just last month in Detroit. What's so custom about the Silverado Custom, you ask? Well, not a whole lot. The new truck is based on the popular Silverado LS Double Cab, and adds, among its most noteworthy features, a set of 20-inch, five-spoke wheels. From there, chrome is the order of the day, with shinier front and rear bumpers, mirror caps and door handles. The top portion of the front bumper, which is finished in black plastic on the standard LS, is matched to the body color on the Custom model. Standard LS interior features, like the 4.2-inch MyLink system with 4G LTE wireless internet, 40/20/40 cloth front seats, remain in place on the Custom, while it's a similar story with the powertrain. Choices below the sheetmetal will force buyers to choose between a 5.3-liter V8 or a standard 4.3-liter V6, and two- or four-wheel drive. Chevy is pricing a V8-equipped Silverado Custom 4x2 at $33,820 (including $1,195 in destination charges). Adding four-wheel drive brings the price up at $37,800, although as we said, selecting the 4.3-liter V6 will yield a more affordable Custom. Check out the full press release on the newest member of the Silverado clan, available below. 2015 Silverado Custom: Back to Basics, with Style $33,820 starting price for a well-equipped double-cab V-8 CHICAGO – Chevrolet takes aim at the heart of the pickup market with the Silverado Custom, which offers Chevy Truck capability and dependability in a stylish package, priced within reach of many truck customers. "The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country," said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. "But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price.

A hybrid and electric Corvette, plus we drive the Ioniq 5 | Autoblog Podcast #728

Fri, May 6 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. Zac drove the electric 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Greg drove the fire-breathing 2022 Maserati Levante Trofeo. The two dive deep into the relatively heavy news week by starting off with a discussion about the upcoming hybrid Corvette before chatting about what the electric Corvette might be like. They have a chat about the possibility of Porsche and Audi officially joining the Formula 1 field. Then, Greg and Zac get into some quick-hitting news to round out the segment by dissecting the updated Kia Soul (now without a turbo), the 30th Anniversary Edition Land Rover Defender and the new CEO at Aston Martin. Following the news and drive reviews, they rope in Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder to give them a quick download of what went down at the first drive for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Finally, they reach into the mailbag and answer some questions from someone who is less than pleased about infotainment systems in some new cars. And lastly, the gang hears back from someone they helped out in a prior Spend My Money segment on the podcast. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Recharge Wrap-up: U of M wins Solar Challenge, family attempts record-breaking e-bike ride

Thu, Aug 14 2014

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team has won the 2014 American Solar Challenge. It is the team's eighth national championship, its fifth in a row, and its first using Siemens' product lifecycle management (PLM) software. The race took place over 1,722 miles and seven days traveling across eight states. The team's car, called "Quantum," outpaced the nearest competitor by four hours. Looking forward, Michigan Solar Car Project Manager Pavan Naik says, "The switch to Siemens tools will give us the ability to model and simulate everything and truly allow us to optimize the performance of our new vehicle. As we start on our quest to win the World Solar Challenge in 2015, we'll be leveraging a full complement of PLM solutions." Read more in the press release below. The EcoCar3 competition, in which teams will convert Chevrolet Camaros into hybrid electric cars, begins in September. The various college teams will have four years to lessen the car's environmental impact as much as possible while maintaining performance and, of course, that cool Camaro design. EcoCar3, which is put on by the US Department of Energy and General Motors, kicks off with a workshop in Novi, Michigan from September 16 - 18. Read more at the DOE website at the dedicated EcoCar3 site or watch the announcement video at our previous post. Zap and Jonway Auto are shifting to a high rate of EV production. Zap already has two lines creating the Urbee EV to met demand, and is switching over a third to make electric minivans and SUVs. The company aims to produce 30,000 EVs by 2015 for the Chinese market. Zap says it has a backlog of 25,000 Urbee orders. Read more in the press release below. A family of four hopes to make a world record-breaking, 6,000-mile electric bike journey this fall. The family, which recently drove from Argentina to Montana in a pickup with a camper, will ride from Montana to Maine, then down the East Coast to Florida in an attempt to break the record for longest electric bicycle ride. They'll use two bikes. The Father, Thomas, will ride one of the bikes carrying one of the children, while the rest of the family rides in a support vehicle, with the mother, Dylan, riding the second bike when they can find others to drive. They have started a crowdfunding campaign for some of the equipment needed to document the trip. See the video below or read more at Treehugger.
