1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Hard Top, Possible Fuel Injection Car on 2040-cars

Year:1957 Mileage:0

Up for auction is a 1957 Chevy 2 Door Hard Top Bel Air.  No engine or transmission.  I do have a 1957 motor 283, but it is not the original engine that came out in the car.  It is still together but would need completely gone through.  If the buyer wants the engine, I will include it with the car.

My family has owned the car for close to 25 years where it has been kept inside a garage for the duration of this time.  The only thing that we ever did to the car was pulled the bumpers off within the intentions of having them re-chromed - but it never came to pass.  I re-installed them right before I pulled the car out of its resting place and cleaned it up for the pictures shown.

If you wanted to make a driver out of the car, it is in good enough shape.  You would just need to do a motor, transmission, brakes and fuel system.  If you are looking for a show car, this would be an awesome solid start for a complete restoration.

You'll note from the pictures that this car has fuel injection badges on the front fenders.  That is how we purchased the car.  I can't confirm or deny that it came from the factory that way.

I know it is hard to buy from a picture, so I took a lot of different shots and also made a video.  In my opinion, the car has a pretty solid body - looks like the worst is the bottom quarter panel on the drivers side (right in front of the tire).  The passenger side door has also been scraped and dented.  I pulled the seats and carpet out to get some photos of the floor pans as you should be able to see in the pics.  It will need driver and passenger side front floor pans.  The rear floor pans, trunk pan, and fire wall appear to be very solid.  The front floor pans would be okay if you are just fixing a driver.  It has one front and one rear body mount rusted out on the drivers side and has one rear body mount rusted out on passenger side which should be visible in pictures.

If you would like to come by and look at the car or send an inspector, you are more than welcome.  Here is my cell:  call or text  606-344-2247

Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.

GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak

Wed, Sep 24 2014

General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana

Surprise! GM putting aluminum in next-gen pickups

Wed, Aug 5 2015

Last month, General Motors launched a series of ads touting the benefits of steel over aluminum – specifically, with regard to the Chevy Silverado versus the Ford F-150. (Kind of. We're not sure what a grizzly bear has to do with anything.) We took issue with the ads, with editor in chief Mike Austin saying they "reek of insecurity, and distract from the Silverado's strengths that could be used for positive advertising." But what bothers us more, is that yet another report surfaced claiming anti-aluminum GM will indeed use the weight-saving material in its next-generation fullsize trucks. On Tuesday, GM announced a $877-million investment for its truck plant in Flint, MI. But Reuters says that huge overhaul is because the trucks will use "substantially different equipment than the tools GM uses today." The report specifically states, "People familiar with the company's plans say GM's next-generation pickups and SUVs will make use of various materials, including aluminum and lightweight steel, to shed weight and gain fuel efficiency to meet tougher federal standards." The Silverado already uses a few aluminum components in the engine and hood, and if more widespread use will help GM build its best fullsize trucks ever, then that's great. Honestly, we have no reason to doubt that aluminum will be used in the next Silverado and GMC Sierra. We just hope GM remembers that nothing is ever truly deleted from the bowels of the Internet when it launches the subsequent "look how great aluminum is!" campaign.
