Vehicle came out of sunny California (Rancho Cucamonga). Previous owner had done an aesthetic restoration on the vehicle in the early 1990s from what I was told, and since then it has been garaged and driven occasionally. Lots of work done on it, and it's waiting for a new owner to take her to the next level and enjoy her for years/decades to come.
OPTIONS:
Manual steering
Manual drum brakes
#s Matching Inline 6 cylinder motor
3 Speed Manual Transmission (originally on column, converted to floor shift)
Two-tone color combination
Bench seat interior
Under the hood lies a virtually all stock and MATCHING NUMBERS inline 6 cylinder Chevy motor (has been upgraded to later model alternator and battery, other than that it's bone stock). Meticulously serviced throughout its life. Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great. Transmission is solid and shifts good without any noises or grinding. I drive the car about once every other week for short trips around down or every once in a while I'll take it to a cruise night on the highway. It has never let me down and always performs great.
Interior was redone some years ago during the restoration and has held up fairly well through the years. Seats in good shape overall with NO rips but some discoloration in the fabric inserts. Good headliner with a couple of small water stains. Carpet is old but still presentable. Good door panels with minor wear. Dash in good shape with some chips in the paint here and there. Good steering wheel (could use different hub). Overall nicely presentable for a good driver.
GOOD CHROME throughout (front bumper is fairly nice with minor wear as is the rest of the side trim, rear bumper has some small surface rust spots here and there).
Seems to have a SOLID FRAME throughout, other than a couple of rusted side braces, which is common.
The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in VERY GOOD shape throughout, and although it looks fairly good with plenty of shine, it has various small chips, and minor imperfections as you would expect of being nearly 20 years old. Hood could use new front rubber stoppers and minor adjustment as it's not lying perfectly flush. Small surface crack along left edge of hood. Not working: signals, wipers (I have the wiper arms/blades, just not installed), horn, clock, radio (not connected), may need a couple of bulbs replaced here and there. Missing: spare tire/jack, spacer for steering wheel hub. Window cranks need adjustment, passenger side window needs track adjustment. Brakes work fine but squeal a bit and may need servicing in near future. Could use weatherstripping, window felts and various other rubber replaced throughout. Underside has various patches on floorboards that were done amateurly and should be redone properly (floors are solid but need aesthetic attention). A couple of side frame braces are rotted and should be replaced (typical for tri-5 chevys). Trunk is carpeted throughout but from underneath it looks in decent shape overall. Exhaust needs new pipe from muffler back. Sill plates need adjustment as they hit doors a bit.
So overall she is not perfect and will need some form of TLC and tinkering depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 65 years old so keep that in mind.
If you just want a GREAT LOOKING TURN-KEY DRIVER then this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some work to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.

Star Wars Car Drives To The Dark Side Of Comic Con
Tue, Jul 22 2014When it comes to designing coveted collectible toys for sale at Comic-Con, the annual celebration of pop culture lifting off Thursday in San Diego, the sky's the limit for the designers at Mattel. Fittingly, the building where Mattel's dreamers conceive of their limited-edition playthings is just down the street from the Los Angeles International Airport. Inside the colorful design center - a Hot Wheels-themed shuttle bus transports employees from Mattel's parking garage - the designers have spent the past year working on 10 toys created especially for the Comic-Con crowd, including a replica of the Batmobile from the upcoming game "Batman: Arkham Knight" and a 9-inch-tall action figure of Superman killer Doomsday. "We don't have to worry about retail. We don't have to worry about margins," said Doug Wadleigh, Mattel's senior vice president of global brand marketing for boys and entertainment. "We don't have to worry about operational efficiencies. We only have to worry about creating the coolest toys for our fans. Period." It also offers some escape from Mattel's reality these days. Like other toy makers struggling in this digital, video-centric age, the company is trying to remain relevant in the retail world. Core brands like Barbie have seen less of a demand, with a 14 percent drop in sales in the first quarter of this year. Mattel had a net loss for the first three months ending March 31 that totaled $11.2 million. But things will at least seem rosier at Comic-Con, where eager buyers for the toys await (the only other place they will be sold is on the Mattel collector's site). Mattel's exclusives this year run between $20 and $85, but elite toys can fetch much more when they're put up for auction. The crown jewel for Wadleigh and his team this year is a Darth Vader die-cast car, the first official collaboration from Hot Wheels and the "Star Wars" franchise. The car - imagine if a Chevrolet Corvette C5 and the villainous Sith lord's helmet had a baby - comes in a sleek black box and encased in a replica of Vader's lightsaber, complete with a swooshing sound effect. "We've been trying to partner with Lucasfilm and Disney on this property for a long time," said Wadleigh. A full-size working replica of the Vadermobile will be on display at Mattel's booth at the massive San Diego Convention Center.
Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green
Fri, 01 Mar 2013With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
