Rare 1956 Business Coupe. This model has the lowest production numbers of any 1956
Chevrolet. (Right next to the Nomad) There are very few of these business coupes still in existence today. The 150
was mainly conceived as a fleet model sold from 1953 to 1957 and little effort was spent marketing it to the
average buyer. It was most popular with police, state governments, small businesses, economy-minded consumers and
hot rodders. Chevrolet sold substantially less one-fifties than two-tens or Bel Airs in every year of its life.
In 1956, Chevrolet's mildly disguised race package was more commonly referred to as the "Business Coupe". These
Vehicles were the plain vanilla versions of the "police package" cars and were available only in the 2 door post
body style. They featured a sparse option list, had rubber floor mats in place of carpeting, fixed rear windows,
and an item known as a package tray which consisted of a 3/8 inch fiberboard where the back seat was originally
intended to be.
This beautiful, understated, fully restored and painted in its original color (Indian Ivory) rare Chevy Business
Coupe is running with a 355 Chevy engine (350 bored 30 over) with a mild thumper cam and puts out approximately 300
HP. The transmission is a turbo 350 with a shift kit. The rear original to the car we are approximating to be a
3:23. AT 60 MPH the car is taching at 2000 RPM. This rare beauty can be driven anywhere in comfort and handles as
well as it looks. Only 4600 miles has been put on this classic since the restoration.
Additional features of this 1956 Chevy include: A new interior restored to as original as was practical, power
steering, power disc brakes (front), brushed aluminum tilt steering column, a sun tach, auto meter fully mechanical
gauges, tinted windows, a rear seat, perfect chrome, cragar SST's with Kelly 205/65R15 92T on the front and
255/70R15 108S on the rear. She has aluminized exhaust, flow masters with welded chrome tips, an Edlebrock
carburetor, and Edlebrock polished manifold, a chrome alternator and bracket kit, an aluminum radiator with an
aluminum overflow. A transmission cooler, and a new power steering pump. The "old school stance" was accomplished
by using A/C springs in the front and 5 leaf springs in the rear. Seat belts front and rear were also installed.
This rare Chevy is a truly beautiful example of automotive history and is sure to appreciate in value while she is
being enjoyed. Lovingly owned and maintained. She is in need of nothing but a new owner to continue to pamper her.
Having spent almost 90% of her life in Alabama, this is a rust free car.
If you are looking for a classic TRI 5 Chevy or specifically a rare 56, don't miss out on this outstanding car. You
will not be disappointed.

Chevy's 6.6-liter Duramax is pretty much all new
Thu, Sep 29 2016To say there's a heated battle in heavy-duty pickups is an understatement, with Chevrolet, Ford, and Ram constantly trading blows of increased torque, horsepower, and towing capacity. The latest salvo is the revised, more powerful turbo diesel 6.6-liter Duramax V8 in the 2017 Chevy Silverado. It has 910 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 145, putting it nearly level with the Ford Super Duty. Here's a closer look at where those gains come from. How exactly did Chevrolet add all that torque plus 48 horsepower? The automaker essentially took a fine-tooth comb to the entire engine. Chevy says it changed 90 percent of the V8, and the cumulative effect of those small changes adds up to big increases. As you might guess, the turbocharger is updated. The larger unit features electric actuation of the variable nozzle turbine (VNT), and what Chevy calls a double axle cartridge mechanism that separates the VNT moving parts from the housing. That helps with heat performance as well, with a claim that the exhaust side of the turbo can run continuously up to 1,436 degrees Fahrenheit. Helping that cause are six exhaust gaskets made of Inconel - an nickel alloy that contains chromium and iron – and upgraded stainless steel for the exhaust manifold. Despite having the same cast iron cylinder block, albeit with some minor enhancements, the engine has new cylinder heads, pistons, piston pins, connecting rods, and crankshaft, which have all been upgraded to handle 20 percent higher cylinder pressures. Alongside the increase in pressure, Chevrolet also increased the cylinder head's structure with a honeycomb design. The pattern features high-strength aluminum with dual layer water jackets that not only improve strength, but also optimize water flow for better cooling. For 2017, the cylinder head also benefits from integrated plenum that aids the engine in getting more air under heavy loads. The cylinder head isn't the only component to get a minor update, as the pistons have a larger diameter pin for improved oil flow. The same detailed improvements has been bestowed to the humble connecting rods (second in our hearts only to the inanimate carbon rod). The new design has the bolts oriented roughly 45-degrees to the rod instead of parallel. The angle split design, as it's called allows for easier passage through the cylinder.
Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica
Fri, 03 Aug 2012If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either.
