VIDEO PRESENTATION BELOW
Back in the mid 1950’s, there were not many more cars you wanted to be seen in than a Bel Air. This car was pure status and never failed to impress. This 1956 example of what came off of Chevy’s production line, still catches the attention of many spectators almost 60 years after it was produced. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this 1956 Chevy Bel Air.
The 56 was completed approximately 5 years ago.
There are many new modifications done to the car, all of which add to the eye catching appeal. As always, the exterior is what really catches the attention of anyone on a Bel Air. The bright yellow paint job is so clean that you are almost required to wear sunglasses when looking at it up close.
We would like to thank our friends at The Frontiers Of Flight Air Museum where we shoot many of our photos. Be sure to visit this great museum when you're in Dallas. It's a must see.
Plenty of factory chrome helps to add to the iconic style that any Chevy Belair is known for.Custom Cragar SS wheels and Goodyear tires provide excellent style, while providing enough traction under acceleration.
Allowing this beast to come to a stop is the addition of custom power front disc brakes and drum brakes in the rear.
The fit and finish are excellent.
New custom headlights and taillights help light the night up to provide superior visibility.
All of the chrome is excellent.
The interior is really the jewel of the car. The restoration was performed to provide plenty of comfort as if you drove the Belair as you primary vehicle.
There is a custom vinyl interior with new custom front seats, which are separated by a center armrest. To keep things clean, new floor mats and carpet help give the interior that “new car” look.
One look at the dashboard and you realize that almost every inch of this beautiful Chevy didn’t go untouched. Custom Classic gauge package gives you full readings on all engine vitals.
An Idit Custom tilt steering wheel column can adjust to any size driver or comfort level. Heating and A/C allow for year round driving in any kind of temperature. There are also power windows and power door locks with keyless entry.
The 2163 miles on the odometer are actual since the build. The current owner bought this 56 from us just after it was built and that was in 2008 so you can tell how much it's been driven.
For the long drives, a new AM/FM CD player, IPod compatible, was added along with new custom speakers to enjoy your favorite tunes.
Continuing with the power plant, this Belair is equipped with a new GM 350 cu. in. V8 engine that is decked out with all kinds of goodies. The engine is bolted to a rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission for easy drivability. The rear end is a factory rebuilt housing from a 56 Chevy.
An Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and Holley 4bbl carb provide plenty of air and fuel to get every bit of horsepower out of the engine. The engine is dressed up with chrome valve covers and air cleaner.
A serpentine belt setup, polished aluminum radiator with 2 electric fans keep the engine cool under any kind of conditions. All that power exhales through a pair of HPC coated headers.
There are many customizations that this Belair has undergone, becoming more of a “resto-mod”. All of the modern day luxuries were added to allow the owner to enjoy the comforts of a car manufactured today.
The frame was powder coated when the car was built. The undercarriage shows very little wear and tear.

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially. Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action. "The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
"I said our cars are built to be winners." – Jim Hall Racing legend Jim Hall never thought he'd be a video game consultant, but when Chevrolet asked for his advice to create a futuristic Chaparral for the Vision Gran Turismo series, he was eager to help. He reviewed early sketches and suggested some changes that made it onto the concept, including the addition of a camera that's mounted onto a mast over the cabin to aid the driver. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was revealed this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be part of a downloadable update for PlayStation 3's Gran Turismo 6 in December. Theoretically, at least, it uses a laser-beam propulsion system and an air-powered generator to produce 900 horsepower in the video game. It's capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 1.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 240 mph. Those gaudy performance specs – even in the virtual world – came at Hall's urging. "I said our cars are built to be winners," Hall told Autoblog on the floor of the Los Angeles show. The 79-year-old drove Lotus racecars in Formula One before launching the successful Chaparral Cars in the 1960s. Like his innovative Can-Am racers, the Vision Gran Turismo project has an eye toward the future. It also introduces the iconic Chaparral name to a new generation of fans, and hopefully, Hall says, gets them excited about engineering and design. "It emulates what we did in the '60s," he said. And what they did back then still resonates. Chaparral Racing and Chevy partnered more than 45 years ago for development work on the composite monocoque chassis, lightweight alloy powertrains, automatic gearboxes and active aerodynamics. "He [Hall] walked right back into this and was able to apply thinkings and learnings," said Clay Dean, General Motors executive director of advanced design. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was created at GM's North Hollywood advanced design studio, and it will be on display at the show through November. Other News and Views Sebastian Vettel joins Ferrari team in 2015 Ferrari confirmed that four-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel will join the Scuderia for the 2015 season, jettisoning Ferrari's current ace, two-time champ Fernando Alonso. Vettel has been F1's most successful driver since Michael Schumacher, though he's struggled to match his previous accomplishments in 2014.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park. Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
