1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air Convertible project This is a real 1956 convertible, not a recreation. I have a clear Indiana Title for the car in my name along with the VIN Tag and Cowl Tag. Style No. 56-1067DTX Body No. L21415 Trim No. 605 (Red / Ivory) Paint No. 711 (India Ivory / Matador Red) I was building this car to be a Pro-Touring car, but the shop I had it at has closed….. so it’s time to cut my losses and move forward. As I said above, the car was being built as a Pro Touring 1956 Bel-Air, so I do not have the original frame or motor for the car. I had a custom chassis made by Street Rod Garage in Grant, Alabama http://www.streetrodgarage.com/srg-force555657chevychasisbuilderspackage.aspx This car is not a roller at this time. The chassis is bare bones right now, but it still cost over $5,000 to hand-build. There is also no interior or engine with the car, so you can choose your own. When I bought the car it had some really poor bodywork done, so I decided rather than patch every panel I cut everything off from the cowl back and that way I would know that I have solid metal. I ordered over $14,000 of metal from Cars Inc. (I still have the receipts). Everything from the cowl/dashboard back is brand new from Cars Inc./Harmon’s. The only parts that are installed are the floors, doors, mini-tubs, and a few braces. Everything else is primed and ready to be positioned and welded. The front fenders are original and need the lower quarters repaired (which I also have the patches). The hood is original and in excellent shape and already primed. The brand new convertible doors have shaved door handles and they have already been body-worked as well. The rear deck lid is also shaved, body-worked, and primed. The cowl has been smoothed and body-worked along with the dash. I also have the original convertible top frame which is in very good condition and painted black. I have lots of parts that go with the car, so please look through all of the pictures: Weather-stripping package still in the box, some stainless is brand new as you can see in the pics, qtr molding brand new in the box, most or all of the stainless is there, windshield, gauge cluster, quarter windows, heater box, etc.... The car is located in Crown Point, IN Please let me know if you would like to come out and look at the car and all the parts I have for it.

2014 Corvette Stingray meets Tesla Model S in drag strip showdown
Wed, Jan 29 2014They come from two different worlds and have little in common. The Tesla Model S P85 is the sportiest version of this paradigm-punching sedan from California, while the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 is a performance-enhanced version of Michigan's recently-updated sports car stalwart. The West Coast car seats five adults and eats electrons like Popeye eats spinach, the Easterner has two passenger places and, surprisingly, sips gasoline like one might bourbon. An attribute they do happen to share is extreme quickness. This similarity is all the excuse Drag Times needed to set the vehicles beside each other at the Palm Beach International Raceway for a bit of mano-a-mano quarter-mile combat. Fortunately enough, cameras were rolling for each of two bouts down the blacktop and the results recorded for our edification and enlightenment. The winner? We won't spoil it for you, but let's just say it's really, really close. How close? Scroll below and watch the video for yourself. Just be warned, the results may surprise you. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit
Mon, 04 Mar 2013We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
Car and Driver 10Best list cracked by Tesla Model S, BMW 3 Series left off
Fri, Nov 21 2014Car and Driver is keeping new blood pumping into its annual 10Best cars list with three new entries making it on for 2015 and a perennial favorite falling off. Among the biggest shocks this year is that the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series are no longer named, despite years of some portion of that lineup earning a mention. In another surprise, the Tesla Model S (specifically in S 60 trim to fit under the $80,000 cost cap) makes it to the 2015 roster and is the only electrically motivated member of the group. Despite the loss of the 3 Series, BMW isn't entirely shut out this year, because the M235i gets its name on the list. Car and Driver argues that the little coupe feels like a welcome throwback to the E46 chassis M3 of the early 2000s. In addition to the Model S, the final newbie to the annual group is the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. The inclusion of these new members knocks the Audi A6/A7 family and Ford Fiesta ST out from the 2014 rundown. The other seven models carry over from last year, including the Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Honda Accord, Mazda3, Mazda6, Porsche Boxster/Cayman and Volkswagen Golf/GTI. The 2015 10Best cars list certainly seems to have something for everyone from the hot hatch fan to the family man and even the green car driver, thanks to the addition of the Tesla. Head over to Car and Driver to read its detailed explanations for each vehicle's inclusion, but if you've got a difference of opinion or just really like the list, let us know in Comments.
