1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

This little 56 Belair convertible has a 265 cid V8 engine, Power Glide automatic transmission, newer dual exhaust, Power Top, Continental Kit and Fender Skirts. The exterior and interior are correct. The cowl tag and vin plate decode as follows - vin is VC = V8 engine, color code 710 - India Ivory/twilight turquoise, & trim code 603 - Ivory/turquoise.

The exterior is nice & straight, good panel fit and the finish is very nice. The interior is very nice, the top has just been replaced and has a white boot. The trunk is in good shape with a solid trunk pan. The under carriage is nice, clean  and solid. It has light under coating applied so you can drive this one and not worry about decreasing the value like a frame off 100 pt. restoration. The glass and bright shows well, and has new wide white wall tires. The car has great eye appeal and shows very well, the color combo really pops in the sun light. It runs out strong, shifts nicely, and brakes good and straight. Thanks for viewing my auction and call with any more questions.

It is located in Wentzville, Mo., It is 35 miles west of St. Louis, Mo. on I-70. Come on out and take her for a spin and check her over. MY name is Greg and please call me if you have any questions (806) 477-2201. It is being sold as-is where is with no warranty or any implied. The odometer reads 93,192. GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
