You are looking at my 1956 Chevrolet Nomad that I started on a few years ago. Due to an accident and a loss of income I am forced to sell my car that I dearly love but wasn't able to finish. This is an all original built car, the way they built them back then. I have about a zillion dollars invested in my car, you guys that build them know what I mean. This will give someone a chance to get a good car at a good price. The car is about 90% complete in the project stage, really all it needs to be complete is the interior kit and installation, The glass put in it, which I have it all except the rear liftgate glass and the exterior stainless, which I have it all. I want to make a quick comment here on the exterior stainless. I had it all professionally restored, that alone was a $2500.00 project, and it looks beautiful. I have it all rapped up packed in a box so it won't get scratched. I have some of the chrome re-plated and some still needs done. I have the headliner bows done and some other pieces as well. As you can see the rear bumpers are on the car and I have the front bumpers ready to put on, they are done as well. Starting from the ground up, everything on the drive-train is new, brake lines, fuel lines, all the wheel seals, breaks, break drums, tie rods, coil springs gas tank, fuel pump, ect. The engine is the original 265 V-8 with the Powerglide transmission. I took the engine and had it COMPLETELY rebuilt, had the block bored. All new rings, bearings, rods, cam, the works and the heads were rebuilt as well. Basically everything under the hood is new. The engine has new a 4-Bar. carb with the original power steering. The transmission is the original 2 speed Powerglide. When I was in the engine/transmission stage of the project, I wanted to be sure the transmission was a good one so I put it in without doing anything to it. After this stage was complete I took it for a test drive and everything worked as it should,(shifted smooth). As many of you know these Powerglides has a history of leaking and mine is no different, so it needs taken out and new seals needs installed in it, other than that the transmission is fine.I have the front and back seats for the car, the back seat is in GREAT shape, the front seat is rebuild-able. The car has had all new wiring harnesses put in and everything works as it should right down to the clock.Basically everything was new when the car was put together. I can't even begin to list everything because I would surely leave something out. You may have noticed in the photos, the hood was not all the way down, the reason for this is the hood hinges I had on it had something wrong with them, they just didn't work properly so I bought new ones and put them on with new springs as well so it needs some adjustments made that was never done. In the rear cargo area is a border of stainless that goes around the floor area, I have some of these pieces but not all of them. They have not been restored. Once I had all of them I was going to have them restored as well but never got around to that part yet. The metal trim that goes around the top of the cargo area in the back has all been painted and ready to install once the interior has been installed. During the assembly of the car there are a couple places the paint chipped when tightening the of that particular piece, these are small places but they are there and there is a very, very small dent, about the size of a BB in the drivers door, too small to show up in a photo and I'm sure it can be fixed fairly easily if someone knew what they were doing. I am trying to mention every little detail so there will be no surprises if someone were to look at the car. I am sure I've left something out but I've described my car the best I could. If there are any questions about it, and I'm sure there will be, don't hesitate to ask. This will make someone a nice car once it's completed and it won't take too much to do that. Any shipping arrangements will be the responsibility of the buyer although I can assist. A $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction closing. I reserve the right to end this auction early due to the car is for sale locally. Thank you for looking!

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics

Stop-start standard in four-cylinder 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Fri, May 23 2014

Chevrolet has announced that it will include stop-start technology as standard in the entry level 2015 Impala. The result is a nearly five-percent improvement in city fuel economy, also known as one mile per gallon, up to 25 mpg, combined. The 3.6-liter V-6 Impala will not feature stop-start. The 2015 Impala comes equipped with Chevrolet's 2.5-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine, which will also offer 22 mpg in the city, and 31 on the highway. The 3.6-liter V-6 Impala will not feature stop-start and the mild-hybrid eAssist model from the 2014 MY, which got 29/25/35 combined/city/highway mpg, has been discontinued. Chevrolet spokesman Chad Lyons told Green Car Reports that not even one percent of the 2014 Impalas purchased were the Eco model. So Chevy is trying something different. With a seamless driving experience in mind, the new Impala's stop-start tech features software that governs under what conditions the feature will activate. The engine won't shut off if the car has not reached a speed of six miles per hour, so the start-stop won't be cycling during traffic jams. It can also fire the starter even if the engine has not come to a full stop, which quickens reaction time, particularly in instances of what Chevrolet calls "change-of-mind events." The stop-start function uses information about cabin temperature and humidity as well as battery charge to help determine whether or not to shut off the engine. The 2015 Impala has been engineered to reduce NVH, which will also help create a smoother stop-start experience for occupants, Chevy says. Motor mounts have been updated, and a burlier starter motor will help restart the engine after a stop. The Impala follows the 2014 Malibu as Chevrolet's second vehicle to feature stop-start tech. The four-cylinder model currently makes up over 30 percent of Impala sales. The 2015 Impala will be available beginning this summer, with a base MSRP of $27,735 (including destination charges). And while one MPG isn't a huge difference, neither is the price increase of just $50 for a bit of eco-minded innovation. Read on for more details in the press release below. Chevrolet Makes Stop/Start Standard in 2015 Impala Technology improves city fuel economy by 5 percent 2014-05-22 DETROIT – Stop/start technology will be standard on the 2015 Impala base 2.5-liter ECOTEC® engine, an addition that improves the vehicle's city fuel economy by nearly 5 percent, or one mile per gallon.

GM admits goal of 500,000 EVs by 2017 won't be met

Sat, May 9 2015

After a little over four years of Chevy Volt sales, General Motors has a better handle on how many people it expects will buy cars with plugs. And it's less than the company thought back in 2012, when then-senior vice president of global product development, Mary Barra, said that GM expected to sell 500,000 "vehicles with electrification" by 2017. In a sustainability report released this week, GM says that half-million vehicle target will not be met but that it still, "believes the future is electric." In the report, GM says that, "For our commitment to electrification, our forecasted outlook currently projects us, along with the broader automotive industry, falling short of expectations for 2017. ... We continue to aspire to our stated goal." GM's electric lineup includes the Volt, the recently popular Spark EV, the slow-selling Cadillac ELR and upcoming Malibu Hybrid, CT6 plug-in hybrid and eAssist technology in the Buick LaCrosse and Regal. GM says it has 180,834 electrified vehicles on the road in the US today. In 2013, it had 153,034; 95,578 in 2012, and 39,843 in 2011. The company's next big plug-in vehicle will be the second-gen Chevy Volt, which is coming to market later this year, followed by the 200-mile Bolt EV coming, we think, in 2017. GM Employees on Mission to Transform Transportation Sustainability report outlines vehicle and manufacturing progress; sets new targets 2015-05-07 DETROIT – General Motors' just-released sustainability report chronicles efforts by the company's 216,000 employees to live out GM's newly defined purpose and values by earning customer loyalty, applying meaningful technology advances and improving the communities where it does business. These actions – led by CEO Mary Barra – further drive sustainability into the company's culture through building safer and smarter vehicles with less environmental impact. "GM will take a leading role in the auto industry's transformation as it undergoes an unprecedented period of change," said Bob Ferguson, senior vice president, GM Global Public Policy. "From GM's labs to its assembly lines, our people are driving the world to a better place through improved mobility." The company believes the future is electric, with billions of investment to support an all-in-house approach to the development and manufacturing of electrified vehicles. It now counts 180,834 on the road in the U.S – up from 153,034 in 2013.
