I have a 56 Bel air Rat Rod with a 427cubic inch Big Block Chevy and 350 turbo trans.engine was just installed this week. It has 3 inch 40 series flow masters. It was put together right with new parts from speedway. Car is a blast to drive with more power than it needs.
All lights work, including original AM radio, speedometer works, as well as gas gauge. All windows roll up and down smoothly and are good with exception of the passenger front glass, it is cracked. Speedway has it for $55 new. Car was listed a couple weeks ago with original drive train. It was sold but I had a non paying bidder. I turned the case over to Ebay. Do not bid if you do not have funds or whatever the reason may be. Please follow through as I do when I place bids. Below is a list of parts bought the last couple of weeks to put this car together: Engine: 427 Cubic Inch * New engine motor mount kit * New Hooker headers * New Single Plane Intake * New Edelbrock Carb * New MSD Plug Wires * New Plugs AC Delco * New Distributor Cap and Rotor Button * New Aluminum Radiator * New hoses * New Master Cylinder, Brake lines, and wheel cylinder * New Wieand Aluminum Water Pump * New Gas Tank and Sending unit and Gas line from carb to tank * New valve covers * New Breather Body is pretty solid with minor place in trunk, and a place in the front floor. Stainless is in good shape. It is turn key. Wheels are a vintage set of crager late 60's style and are a very good looking wheel on the car. The title is good and is in my name. Its ready to go and would be a great car for show's, cruise-ins, and family, etc. Terms: Less than 10 feedback please call before bidding, if not I have the right to remove your bid. Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.
General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
