1955 Chevy Chevrolet Big Block Gasser Bbc Two Lane Blacktop on 2040-cars
United States
The only way to describe this car is two lane black top. This was always a dream of mine to build a car like this. A friend of mine had one in high school and I always dreamed about having one of my own. We just finished the project this last year. Now,because of a tax problem I have to sell it. We worked hard to decide the stance amd look of the car. The car drives and performs extremely well. Everything from the steering box to the front end has all been completely rebuilt. The motor is a stroked 454 fresh out of the machine shop I think the displacement came to 505. A little while back, Hotrod Magazine did a feature on stroking the 454. It has real street able horse power and lots of low end torque. It's way snotty and a blast to drive. My goal was to build street worthy car that was dependable with lots of horsepower. A body shop friend of mine sanded to bare metal and brought the car all the way up the paint is a metallic gray and is very a nice is not a 10 but a solid 8. Is has a close ratio Muscie 4 speed completely rebuilt along with the entire clutch and all new parts. The rear end is a gm 12 bolt posi traction 370 gears new. Still burn out like crazy and won't keep the RPMs up. I have a bunch of kids and my wife insisted that I put air conditioning in the car. So I bought the whole kit new with an entire core support and new fancy radiator from vintage air. All the good stuff. It's still needs to be worked a little but all new system and controls are here. The best part of the car is it is a real 150 not a bel air or a 210. Has the block off radio. I put the stereo in the glove box with an iPod hook up hidden so it still has the look. The interior is really bitchin' it's made from a metallic big metal flake called Polaris so it has the old school look. Front seats are really cool chevelle seats I think with the 64 chrome sides. New rubber and wheels all around Really nice. Battery is in the trunk. Super dependable drive any where turn key. We'll there you have it my dream car that I hope finds a new home that will love and enjoy it like our family has. This is a great deal. GM files to trademark name Badlands
Mon, Feb 23 2015If you've been hoping for General Motors to come out swinging at the Ford F-150 Raptor, we've had some tantalizing news for you of late. Last month we brought you a report that indicated GM has trademarked the name "Z71 Trail Boss," suggesting a potential hardcore off-roader. Now it seems the General has filed for a potentially even better name. That name, as our friends over at GM Authority have discovered, is "Badlands." The application, filed on February 16, indicates that it's for a truck, but of course it doesn't specify just what form it would take... or for that matter, under which division it would fall. So we could, in theory, be looking at the nameplate for a Raptor rival from Chevy or GMC (like the 2011 Sierra All Terrain HD concept pictured here), or for some other trim level, a concept truck, a special edition... just about anything. Heck, it could be for a Vauxhall, Opel or Holden for all we know at this point. Or GM could choose not to use it on anything at all, but here's hoping it'll emerge as something awesome in US showrooms sometime soon. Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
