1955 Chevrolet Belair

This a cool '55 driver for all your cruise-ins, local car shows, or just drive it because you can!!  Gets all the thumbs up, looks on the road, and the long conversations at the gas pump ... Bought this car mostly for my father to drive when he visits Florida, but since the visits aren't as frequent these days, we're going to give someone else an opportuntiy to own this one.

This is an older restoration of a car that is meant to be an American Graffiti type clone, but as a hardtop instead of a post.  The great thing about this one is that it isn't 'perfect' and you could actually drive it everyday or use it to chase down yellow deuce coupes ;-)

Details/Features:

  • 400ci V8 Engine
  • 350 Turbo Transmission (3 Speed Automatic)
  • After-market gauges and tachometer
  • Updated Master Cylinder
  • Seat Belts
  • Chrome Reverse Wheels
  • Dual Exhaust w/ new Hedders
  • Recent tune-up and oil change

The engine runs very well, sounds fantastic, and makes very good power.  The transmission also shifts well.  The car gets down the road and will flow with modern traffic effortlessly.  Good working gauges, lights, and accessories (with the exception of the original clock).  Reliable car to drive and fast.

Just an old hot rod!  Not so perfect interior or exterior, but it's ALL COOL ...  To be a show car, it will need some body and paint work eventually and a few odds and ends.  That said, you can park it at Walmart or drive it everyday if you want.  You could also burn rubber all the way up the street if you so desire!  Overall, it's a sharp looking Chevy just like it is and all the yellow coupes better look out!!

I welcome inspections and appraisers. Shown by appointment.

Drive home or I can help ship this Chevy to your door at a reduced rate via enclosed transport. If you are a long distance or overseas, I will try to work with you on the shipping.

If you would like AIR CONDITIONING added to the car, please contact me for details on that as well. We were already planning on adding this for my Dad and I can have it done for the next owner if you wish.

I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time. The car could be for sale locally as well. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. All offers considered!!

If you need help financing, I would suggest contacting a great company such as JJBest. They are easy to work with.

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.

2015 Chevrolet Cruze spied on its home turf

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

The next Chevrolet Cruze isn't set to go into production for about another year, and we're just now seeing prototypes of the new compact running around here in the States. Not much more has been revealed since we saw the car blasting through the snow in Europe, but we can still clearly see new design elements like the larger grille, slimmer headlamps and redesigned taillamps.
Our spy photographers worked up a composite image of this Cruze prototype alongside the current model, and here, we can clearly see some big visual changes are in store for the new model. The 2015 Cruze's hood slopes downward more dramatically, the windshield is more heavily raked, and the roofline looks more fluid overall. The next-generation Cruze will ride on the new global Delta platform that will also underpin other General Motors vehicles like the Chevrolet Volt and Equinox.
As for what's under the hood, we expect the normal range of gasoline four-cylinder engines (both naturally aspirated and turbocharged), and the compact's new turbodiesel four should carry over, as well. Have a look at the full brace of spy photos in the gallery above.

2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced

Wed, Jul 6 2016

Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6.
