NO RESERVE!!!!  1955 Chevy Bel Air. This is the 2 door sedan. Its a pretty nice car. It has a 327 and a 4 speed. The car runs fantastic. It drives down the road straight with no rattles or clunks. It sounds fantastic. It is a 4 speed trans and it pops out of 3rd once in awhile. It only does it once in awhile. I have been driving it on a regular basis. All the lights, horn, turn signals and gauges work as they should. It has the factory radio but doesn't work. The car is currently NYS inspected. The motor on the car is a 327. From what I can tell I think its a 327 from a chevelle. It doesn't smoke or knock or tick or anything. It runs awesome!-As for the exterior, It was restored at some point in its life. The paint has a great shine to it. It has some minor flaws but I wouldn't hesitate to take it to shows and cruise ins. I just recently took it to a local show. The body on the car is straight, Not sure what has been done to it but obviously its been painted and redone and would assume it some some fill in it, but it is 58 years old.  . I would say its a strong driver quality. The pics really look like the car. I would say they are an accurate look of the car. The underside----Well I just had the new tires and rims put on the car and it was on the lift so I got a real good look at it. The frame and the floors on the car are really nice. The only issue I found was the body mount in the back by the wheel well had some rot to it. But the actually frame, floors and trunk were great. I took pics of this -Please look at the pics. I was surprised at how nice the underside of the car was. Considering how old the car is. I didn't see any rot on the floors, frame or trunk. They were really clean --The tires and rims on the car are brand new. They are AR Torque thrust D--And they are as big as your gonna get under it. The chrome is excellent!!!!! Both bumpers are mint-The stainless on the car is nice. The interior-----The inside is pretty nice on the car-It could use a carpet kit. It is presentable but whoever put it in cut out around the gas pedal and shifter and could have been done better. Like I said its presentable but you might want to replace it--see the pics--The seat covers look to be new-and look to be professionally installed. The look correct for the car-But I am no 55 chevy expert. When I said the paint had some flaws the inside paint has some flaws. I saw a couple drips in the paint on the trim inside. The door panels are pretty nice-Im sure they were replaced and the headliner looks new. See pics for all this. Im sure I am missing some stuff so feel free to ask questions and ask for any pics you want. -As for the actual car-This is what I found----According to the vin its a VC-which means Bel Air 2400, and according to the trim tag the car is a true 2 door sedan Bel Air,the trim is 513-Turquoise/Ivory the paint code is 612-India Ivory/Regal Turquoise--So whoever restored the car painted it the correct color and did the interior in the correct colors for the car. All in all I would say real nice driver that gets a lot of thumbs up and compliments everywhere it goes. It has driver quality paint and body. Interior is decent and hasn't been chopped up-they did it as factory as they could. Not a perfect car but a real decent driver car. Better than a lot of the cars I have seen on e-bay-We are a NY dealer so Ny residents will have to pay sales tax-I have 100% feedback for a reason and sell a lot of cars on here. I try and be as honest as I can when listing a car. I have seen some of the vague descriptions on here. I feel I have accurately described this cars with its flaws and its good points. This is a no reserve auction-So please read the ad carefully and make sure you want the car before you bid-I require a $1000 deposit immediately following the auction. This is non-refundable. The car is being sold as is with no warranty--Its almost 60 years old!!!!!!  Please come check out the car if you can--or ask questions and I will gladly send any pics you want--I am no 55 chevy expert but I think this is a good deal for the car--

Meet the mother-daughter team that's worked on almost every Chevy Volt

Sun, May 11 2014

It's Mother's Day, and we're soft enough we love our mothers enough to share a new video from General Motors with you. In it, we meet Monique Watson (left) and Evetta Osbourne, a mother-daughter team that works at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly where GM makes the Chevy Volt (along with all of GM's other plug-in hybrids: the Opel Ampera, Holden Volt and Cadillac ELR). The two work side-by-side and have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on almost all of those vehicles - nearly 80,000 of them - since GM started making the pre-production Volts in 2009. In a prepared statement, Watson said that she likes working next to her mom, day in and day out, and they the two are totally in sync when it comes to putting the 400-pound, 16.5-kWh packs into the vehicle undersides. They two can also share stories throughout the day, and Watson said, "The arrangement has absolutely improved our relationship." Osborne started working at Detroit-Hamtramck in 1999, Watson since 2006. If you're driving a Volt today, you probably have them to thank for doing a bit of the work putting your car together. See a short video of them in action below. It's Always Mother's Day for Detroit-Hamtramck Duo Mother, daughter install lithium-ion battery pack in nearly all GM electric vehicles 2014-05-08 DETROIT – For Detroit resident Evetta Osborne, every day is Mother's Day. That's because she literally works side by side with her daughter, Monique Watson, at General Motors' Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. They have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on nearly every Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Holden Volt, and Cadillac ELR since production began. In fact, apart from vacation days and an occasional sick day, the mother-daughter duo has installed almost every battery pack since the Volt was in pre-production in 2009. The ELR launched earlier this year. All told – including Ampera – that's more than 80,000 electric vehicles. "We're a good team and our relationship is secondary when it comes to performing our jobs – but it's great to work alongside my daughter, said Osborne, a mother of five. Because the battery packs weigh more than 400 pounds each, automatic guided vehicles – robotic carts that use sensors to follow a path through the plant – deliver them just as the vehicle body structures glide into position overhead. The carts then lift the T-shaped packs, and Osborne and Watson guide them into the chassis and secure each one with 24 fasteners.

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry

Wed, Dec 1 2021

The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer.  The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).

GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair

Mon, Dec 19 2016

In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock."
