TOO MUCH TO LIST
Close inspection of the exterior of this car will confirm that this is one of the nicest, black, sinister looking Chevy's on the market today. Originally built and individually owned here in Texas, this car has been a cherished, garaged, and street driven member of the family.
You may remember this beauty from our web site a few years ago. We sold it for the original builder and it remained here in Texas loved by it's new owner just as much. It has been extremely well taken care of. The current owner has decided it's time to move on to another. We are proud to have this black beauty back.
Weld Racing wheels wrapped with Hoosier Pro street radials help apply the power to the pavement.
Rears are 29 x 12.5 50R 15 LT
Fronts are 205/75s
These are all current pictures of the 55.
The heart of this Cheverolet is a professionally balanced and blueprinted DART 427c.i. block. AFR 220 aluminum cylinder heads provide plenty of breathing room for the Weiand polished supercharger to force feed this engine.
Beautifully crafted Hooker Super competion headers expell gases through the custom exhaust system.
The firewall and inner fenders were completely disassembled and finished to show. This is a very well done car. Please look carefully through all of our detailed photographs.
From the factory in 1955, our car was a meek 6 cylinder passenger 150 post, not anymore! This car is as far from your granny's grocery getter as you can get.
The engine component includes a beautiful billet aluminum serpentine pulley and bracket setup.
This car is equipped with modern 134a air conditioning, complete with a polished compressor and billet brackets.
The alternator is chromed. The fuel lines are all up garaged with anodized colored fittings.
Cooling is handled thru Be Cool with polished overflow tank.
Spark is provided by the MSD billet distributor and Blaster coil provided the spark.
The engine is capable of generating in excess of 700 flywheel horsepower.
The seat is custom crafted to handle the shifter, it is finished in red leather with black piping. The upholstry is in excellent condition.
Original gauge cluster has been restored in chrome.
The Grant Gt steering wheel fits the car well.
Autometer super Competition gauges monitor the water temp., voltage, boost pressure.
A 10,000 RPM Sport Comp memory tachmeter sits poised on the dash.
The Richmond Super Street 6 speed transmission is paired with the big block.
The frame has been powder coated. Every nut and bolt has been attended to. The rear end is a custom built 9 inch Ford unit complete with an Auburn locker.Custom front disc brakes provide the stopping for this beast.

Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party.
