Hello.  I am not an automobile dealer or collector.  This was my father's 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air.  He died several years ago and I have had it ever since.  Although I keep it insured, I miht drive it 30 miles A YEAR.  It has been in a few parades etc.  -otherwise it has been under a tarp.  I know very little about automobiles, but need to lay on cash.  I have twin daughters that begin college in the fall.  I have taken a number pictures and welcome and ncourage you to call or come by and take a look.  I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.  I must point out that it is SOLD AS IS.  PLEASE understand this.  I will however answer all questions as best I can and you can have a mechanic come with you or whatever to insure you like what you get.  I really do not know how to evaluate its value--but based on what I am seeing on Ebay, i think I have it priced right!.  I do not know the engine size.  If you know how to instruct me on determining the size, let me know.  I do know my dad had a different engine put in it not long before he died.  The car runs very smoothly, sounds fine, and has plenty of get up and go.  All I have had to do to it is buy new batteries that have run down from lack of use.  I do not know of any engine problems.  It does not use a lot of water or oil.  It does not appear to leak oil, but I know it has not had any new seal for several years.  Don't know how that works.  The brakes work OK--but they are old disc brakes and I do not like to drive it.  I had it painted about 6 or 7 years ago.  I had it painted the same colors it has always been.  We called this car "ol' Blue".  It has very little rust.  I noticed a couple of "paint bubbles" on one door panel, but no visible rust.  We do NOT live in an area where salt is used, so there is minimal rust to the undercarriage.  There is no rust in the trunk.  It has original chrome.  There is some bent and dented chrome.  There is rust on the fenders coming through the chrome.  I would think they need rechroming.  The interior is OK for a 50 year old car.  There is no rips or tears.  My father had new door panels put in a few years ago.  I can remember it was quite expensive.  The hardware is original and there is a lot of wear to chrome on door handles.  The windows do work, but it is hard to raise and lower windows, especially on drivers side.  The headliner is original and needs replacing.  It does have a working heater, no AC-never had it.  My father bought the seat belts, but they have never been installed.  They are still in box in trunk.  Tire rims are original, in good shape, but do have rust.  The tires are not worn, but are probably close to dry rotting.  They hold air, but I would not recommend driving on them.  It would be advisable to have the car towed to new home and inspected before driving long distances.  It has spare tire- i guess it is original too.  No antenna or working radio-still has orginal radio in dash.  The glass is not broken- good windows and windshields.  I have no idea how many miles the new engine actually has- I do not know if my Dad put in a rebuilt engine or what--I am not a mechanic.  i do not know what size it is.  It uses regular gas.  The seals on the doors are pretty bad--dry rotted.  Floor boards are good.  Overall this car is not bad to be an old classic.  I truly hate to sell it and would not if i did not need the money.  I want you to be happy with it, but again sold AS IS.  I am not going to predict what a 50 year old car will do.  If you would like to make an appointment to look at it or if you have questions please call me at 334-237-0110.  I am on central time--please do not call after 8 o'clock.  It will be your responsibility to move the vehicle.  Although it drives now-I would be very leasry about driving it home.  The tires are old and the car has not been on a long drive in years.

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.

First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06s en route to owners [w/video]

Tue, Dec 2 2014

Pretty much right on schedule, Chevrolet has begun shipping the very first customer examples of its 650-horsepower, supercharged Corvette Z06. In fact, according to General Motors, the earliest Z06s could be in customer hands by the end of this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, manager of Chevy's Bowling Green Assembly plant. "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." Prices for the Z06 start at $78,995 for the hardtop model, while the first-ever Z06 Convertible kicks off at $83,995. Take a look below for the official press release from Chevrolet, and while you're down there, we've slipped in a new video of Corvette Racing's Tommy Milner taking a hot lap of Road Atlanta in a Z06, complete with some Performance Data Recorder footage. First 2015 Corvette Z06s on Their Way to Customers Most capable model in Chevrolet's history now shipping from Bowling Green BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Chevrolet is now shipping the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 coupe from Bowling Green Assembly and some early customers could receive the much-anticipated supercar later this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, plant manager of General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant, "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." The new Corvette Z06 offers the most choice for customers in the model's history. It is the first Z06 to offer an available eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and, thanks to a stronger aluminum frame, a removable roof panel. In addition, it is the first time since 1963 that the Z06 is available as a convertible – which will arrive in early 2015. The new LT4 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine is SAE-certified at 650 horsepower (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm) at 3,600 rpm – making the 2015 Corvette Z06 the most powerful production car ever from General Motors and one of the most powerful production cars available in the United States. To balance performance and efficiency, the LT4 leverages a trio of advanced technologies – direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing –with a new, more efficient supercharger. The LT4 helps make the Corvette Z06 the most capable car in the brand's history.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.
