This is not your grandfathers 55 Chevy.

I built this car starting with a bare frame. I built a rottissary to swivel the frame at a comfortable height.

There was no rust in the frame or body at all. This car was a race car since the 60's. The wheel lips in the rear are rolled leaded in.

Every suspension item was sand blasted and either powder coated or painted.  Al new springs, ball joints, bushings etc....

Front disc brakes, drum in the rear.

This car was featured in Hotrod magazine June 2004.... Titled The Lost Look  ... you can look it up.

Also featured on Hotrod shows on television.

I built the wiring harness to NASA specifications. There is not an old wire anywhere.

My intention was to build a 60's Hotrod like the American Graffiti car and Two Lane Blacktop.

The body was painted off the frame top and bottom. I have a massive photo album shoing the build.

I also have a massive receipt book showing every dime spent on the car. I have receipts exceeding 60,000 dollars.

This is a fun car to drive. The nitrous is installed but not hooked up or ever used.

The motor runs on pump gas, 9.5 to 1 compression ratio, Crane 280 camshaft. Hyperutectic pistons.

The transmission is a reverse body manual TCI, bullet proof to about 600 horsepower.

I guestimate the motor to be about 500 HP or so.

NO side windows except for the wind wings. No radio, no heater.

Runs perfect, no issues, no leaks.....This is an iconic car to drive. No others like it at your local cars shows.

I have taken first place in local shows and several times and I am always urged to bring it out.

The car has been garaged since day one, you can eat off the bottom of it....it is in perfect condition.

Health forces sale.....I hate to get rid of it....But I hope it goes to a deserving new owner.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.

First 2016 Chevy Volt commercial rocks us to sleep

Fri, Jan 30 2015

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt, with its thorough restyling and increased all-electric range, is an exciting evolution of Chevy's groundbreaking plug-in hybrid, so it's only fitting that the commercial campaign to sell it to the masses also be engaging and vibrant. Well, the first ad has just been officially released and it rocks... us to sleep. Now, we get that General Motors didn't want to repeat past Volt-commercial mistakes. No one wants to see dogs licking feet or dumb (and weirdly horny) aliens again. Nor would it be smart to slam all-electric vehicles, since it now sells the Spark EV and has just revealed its 200-mile Bolt concept. So, what does that leave? How about a mostly computer-generated spot that relies on cliche images and an upbeat synthetic soundtrack to communicate that the Volt is now as boring as other four-door appliances? An intro, featuring a lightly-bearded gentleman peering at his tablet through designer glasses launches us into the action as the Volt makes its way across a city bridge, then a curvaceous country road. Chevrolet doesn't include voiceover to inform you that the new Volt has a 50-mile battery-only range. There's no mention of its gas mileage once its electric charge is depleted – items that just might be of importance to hybrid buyers. The ad also makes no attempt at establishing an emotional connection, either through drama or comedy. There are, however, lots of fast cuts of the new, normalized interior, including a two-second detail shot featuring the windshield wiper switch. We imagine that this is only the first in a series of spots that will tell the Volt story and motivate potential buyers to run down to their local dealer, hopefully the next spots will be more interesting and informative.
