1952 Bel Air 2dr Hardtop on 2040-cars
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
Read this carefully..... I know this is not a tri-five... but the reserve is more than half or even less than one of those this this condition! And it is actually more rare! I have owned this little jewel for several years. It is a real head turner and safe enough that I let my wife drive it when ever she wants without fear of it breaking down even on the interstate and major highways. (Or should I say she lets me drive it when she doesn't want to)... I have won several local shows and cruise night awards and get a lot of comments about the unique color combination. It has the original Honey Dew and Black Onyx factory two-tone color combination and the first picture is of it for the last 20 years or so... it may appear a little more yellow, but the pictures was taken at a different time. (it is honey dew) Then there are some pictures of the car without the bumpers after I blocked and sanded it then gave it a few new coats of acrylic urethane last fall and brought it back to its former shine. I did not repaint the top so it could use a tiny bit of touch up but nothing drastic. The honey dew is 8 out of 10, for as original as it gets for local shows and driver quality. I took off the bumpers and and guards an had them plated this winter and they are ready to reinstall with new hardware... they are a 9.9 out 10 as far as original gets and I have all of the hardware for the bumpers and the new weather seal for the doors and trunk. Bumpers and seals are not installed at this time because I had a total hip replacement this year and I am unable to lay down on my side to put the finishing touches (bumpers and weather strip) back on the car. The car drive like it should and handles excellent. No vibration, hesitation, and I can cruise down the interstate at 65 mph with no problems. Braking on these old cars leaves a little to be desired so I pump the brakes once just to be sure it brakes straight and stops... of course with the crazy's on the roads today, I drive this car using exta caution. It does not use oil, transmission fluid or brake fluid. The old rear main seal may be seeping a little or could be the valve cover, but is not cause for alarm. This is the first year for the Bel Air so it comes with the 235 (not the 216 babbit beater). This is also the first year for the powerglide behind the 235. For those that don't know, there is no vacuum modulator valve on the old cast iorn 1st generation powerglide which simply means means that you can manually downshift to first for takeoff gear if you need more powr than leaving it in drive (2nd gear) full time. All of the glass is original and excellent! None broken or needing replaced. The car was undercoated 60 years ago when new and that saved the undercarriage, floor pans, trunk pan, and virtually everything underneath from any bad effects that will need attention. The original type tires are in excellent condition and do not need replaced but the white walls yellow sometimes but nothing that tire-white won't make look new again. I could have put radial tires on it but opted to stay orignal bias ply instead. Horn, wipers, heater, amp gauge, fuel gage, vents, etc. all work great. It is a 6 volt system and I replaced the battery a year or so back and it never fails to start. When the car sits for long periods, I simply prime it with a ounce or two of gasoline before hitting the starter button. It has an automatic choke that works great and never fails to start. As my papa would have said, it sound like a singer sewing machine and runs like a swiss watch. In the beginning I wrote: Read this carefully, here is why... Dont bid if you have no intention of completing the transaction! Don't bid without contacting me first if you have been on eBay less that 1 year or have fewer than a dozen transactions! ( I will cancel your bid) ! Don't hesitate to call me about payment for the car if you intend on bidding... because I will not send you a notarized title and/or bill of sale without payment first. I have been an honest eBayer (100% positive rating) for over 12 years..... I have no intention of ruining my rating or yours! The weather here in Oklahoma is like have all four seasons in a week... so I will get the car out Monday for some more pictures of the interior, trunk, undercarriage, etc. but for now have a look at those I have posted and give me a call if you need more immediate information. Jack 918 346 3593 On Mar-09-14 at 05:23:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone correctoy pointed out that this was not the first year for Bel Air... I should have said 1st Serier for Bel Air under the Styleline Deluxe options... If you want to know more about how these first series powerglide transmission worked, just Google or Yahoo search for "first Bel Air" and you can read up on them. I have already had one person with only 1 eBay purchase bid..... Please read what I said about this in the description and don't bid unless you contact me first. Finally..... as I memtioned, I will get more Pictures posted Monday... It's been raining cats and dogs here in Tulsa... but Monday should be nice enough to get some interior, undercarriage, trunk and under hood pic's. Thanks for all of the interest!

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns
Wed, May 4 2016These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
GM announces $7 billion Michigan factory investment, most going to EVs
Tue, Jan 25 2022GM announced a $7 billion investment in Michigan manufacturing, much of which is earmarked for EV production. Four sites are included, but the key elements are a new battery cell plant in Lansing and the conversion of GM's existing Orion Township facility to expand production of the forthcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV and its GMC Sierra sibling. GM says it is the largest investment announcement in company history and that it will create 4,000 new jobs. It also says 1,000 jobs will be retained. "We are building on the positive consumer response and reservations for our recent EV launches and debuts, including the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Equinox EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV," said GM CEO Mary Barra. GM says the Orion expansion and new battery plant will support an increase in full-size electric truck production capacity to 600,000 units. This is in addition to the Factory ZERO facility in Detroit that will also be constructing the electric Silverado and Sierra. The Orion Township factory current builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV, and will continue to do so during the plant's conversion. GM did not indicate what will happen with the Bolts once that conversion is complete or whether all will continue to be built at Orion. They do not use the Ultium vehicle architecture. GM will build other EV models at three other factories that are under construction or being converted. They are located in Spring Hill, Tennessee, Ingersoll, Ontario, and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. GM says that it will have the ability to produce 1 million electric vehicles by 2025. The Ultium Cells Lansing facility is a $2.6 billion joint investment by GM and LG Energy Solution. GM says it alone will create 1,700 jobs once fully operational by late 2024. It will join two other GM Ultium Cells battery factories currently under construction in the United States, one in Ohio and the other in Tennessee. Not all of the $7 billion investment will be for EVs. It also announced $510 million of the total will go toward upgrading the Lansing Delta Township Assembly to produce the next-generation Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Money will also go to upgrading Lansing Grand River Assembly.
How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?
Sat, Mar 26 2016High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.
