Boca Raton, Florida, United States

Up for auction is a unique and rare 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe two-door sedan model with a 235cid inline 6 cylinder Engine and a cast iron two-speed automatic Powerglide Transmission. This 1951 was removed from a dry storage where it was left alone for the last 18 years.  Within the last month this 1951 Chevrolet has undergone a thorough service by installing a new 6 volt battery, flushing the fuel system and fuel tank, new fuel pump, new carburetor, radiator service,  a complete tune up including points, cap, rotor, condenser, plugs, wires, and a new 6v coil to have her running sound. Also, a brand-new Jamco Suspension 3" drop Coil Springs and Rear 3" Drop Blocks were installed along with 4 new Monroe Sensa-Trac Shock Absorbers for a sleeker and much cooler look. The 1951 also has a brand-new set of Coker Classic G78-15 Bias Ply Tires which were just purchased from Coker Tire Company. Electrical components such as Horn Fuel, Voltage, Oil and Temp gauges are working, Original AM Radio still works after warming up, headlights, and rear taillights are operative.

Please take note, this is not a "Show Car" it is a "Driver Car" which retains a 25+ year old lacquer paint refinish in a two-tone green/green combination with a fairly straight body, she's not perfect by any means, but a good driver car. All of the stainless moldings are intact and not missing and present very well. The chrome is much older and is decent considering its age. The interior is not a mohair, but a velour and is really good condition and presents nicely along with the headliner.

This is a good driver condition car, not perfect, but a cool cruiser to take to a local car show, cruise along the beach or a boulevard hangout. Additionally, the 51 features rare factory and aftermarket accessories such as front and rear bumper guards, Fulton visor, rear fender skirts, stainless vent shades, backup lights, and gas door guard. Please take a look at all of the HQ pictures. This 1951 Chevrolet has a Clear Florida Title and ready to go to a new home.  I do reserve the right to end the listing at anytime as it is being offered locally For Sale. Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding!

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.

Next Chevy Volt will be 2016 model and ride on new chassis

Fri, Mar 7 2014

What do we know about the 2016 Chevy Volt? Well, for now, all we can do is try to put the puzzle together without the box. Thankfully, a new batch of pieces has arrived from a new report in Edmunds, which says that the 2016 model year will introduce the second generation of a car that hasn't been dramatically updated since it went on sale in 2010. The new Volt is getting an "evolutionary styling change" and will ride on a new front-drive platform that has been developed by General Motors. GM's Kevin Kelly told AutoblogGreen that he has "no comment on future products," but he did acknowledge that Chevrolet is working on a second-generation Volt, "but I can't say anything about timing." Everybody already knew that a next-gen Volt is coming, so that's not a surprise. What we don't know is any real concrete information on the car itself. The few tidbits of information we do have help define the outlines of the next version of Chevy's halo car, but they're not confirmed yet. For the record, they range from the eye-raising (a $10,000 price drop) to the logical (20 percent more electric range). We can't see the whole picture yet, but the pieces do point to the 2016 Volt, which would be released next year sometime, being a much bigger deal than the last update, when the Volt's range was increased by three electric miles thanks to a battery capacity increase of 16 kWh to 16.5.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
