1957 Chevrolet

Bel Air - 2 door hardtop

Frame off restored car that is super clean inside, out, and underneath.

Drivetrain and suspension-  350 c.i. V8 crate engine with 700R4 transmission, power steering, and power disc brakes.  It has a 10 bolt rear with aluminized dual exhaust (Flowmaster mufflers and ceramic coated headers).  The car is strong running and dependable enough to be your daily driver.  Sway bars front and rear have been added.  Under the hood everything is either painted to match the exterior or is chromed/polished aluminum.  All new brake lines, fuel lines, body bushings etc.  There has been a ton of money spent on this car and it shows everywhere you look.  Photos will tell all the details.  The car is as clean underneath as it is on the topside.

Exterior- Beautiful super slick paint on an arrow straight rust free body.  Zero rust or bondo issues with this car.  Floors are painted to match the exterior and the frame is gloss black.  I have photos showing the car taken apart during the restoration.  All chrome and trim literally looks new.  New glass and new weather stripping through out.  Billet Specialties wheels with new tires.

Interior- Interior is all stock aside from the much needed tilt column with smaller factory looking steering wheel. Everything works as it should and all wiring is new.

This is a turn-key, needs nothing car.  Clear Ky title with no liens or issues.  The car is being sold to downsize a collection so we are not looking for trades.

Photos will tell more than I can type but questions and inspections are welcomed.  The car is much more impressive in person than in these photos.  Feel free to email, call, or text Tim  270-799-8388.

Over 110 high resolution photos-

Bob Lutz says Tesla remains 'fringe' brand

Sun, Sep 28 2014

We've said it before, we'll said it again: Bob Lutz gives great quotes. From his toilet-themed opinion of global warming to Toyota's deity status, the man knows how to get your attention. His latest? Saying that Tesla Motors is and will remain a fringe brand. Take that, Tesla fanbois. This, of course, is the same fringe company that prompted Lutz and his former colleagues at General Motors to start working on the Chevy Volt around eight years ago. The same fringe company that has easily outsold the similarly priced (but don't call it a competitor) Cadillac ELR with its Model S. Lutz did clarify that the fringe status will only last until Tesla comes out with a mass-market electric vehicle that has a range of 200 to 300 miles. Lutz was on CNBC talking about the TSLA stock's recent performance, and he pointed out that even Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the California automaker's stock is overvalued these days. Despite its prevalence around these parts, Tesla is not yet a household brand. But the company is working hard to get a cheaper, long-range EV to market in the not-too-distant future, so this fringe thing may not last much longer than that show Fringe did. EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides

Sat, Apr 26 2014

In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party. Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S.
