Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my auction. First of all, I have a vehicle history report on this truck that I would be more than happy to forward this, by e-mail, at your request. I think it's a waste of money to give the "Big Guys" $30 or $40 bucks for this same report. I can forward to you my username and password so you can access the full, detailed report from VehicleHistoryRecord.com Simply send me your e-mail address. I have the clear title in my name and it is ready to sign over to the new owner.
You are bidding on a 2002 Chevy Avalanche SUV/Truck. It has a 5.3 Liter engine which runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. The engine only has 155K on it, so that's not bad at all. It has heated seats which feels great in the winter, cruise control, power locks and windows, AM-FM CD player!! I purchased this vehicle recently, thinking I would have the time to put into it and make it the sort of truck I know it can be cosmetically. Turns out that I really don't have the time for it nor the extra cash to do the job right, considering it's so close to Christmas. The guy who I bought it from told me he had hit a deer in the front not long ago. You can see from the pics as to what is needed. There is a "Service 4wd" light that is on in the dash.......so, it currently runs in 2wd only. He told me the interior 4wd switch was bad. I did notice that it did not light up as it should when you pressed the buttons, so you be the judge. "ABS" light is also on.....probably because the brakes need bled. The tires are in great shape and I have a full sized spare that comes with the purchase. I think it will need a ball joint and possibly a wheel bearing on the right front. The brakes are cautiously adequate for a short distance drive in light traffic, but need to be bled properly to be totally safe. I have driven the vehicle about 50 miles since I bought it and I was impressed with the engine and tranny. You can see from the pictures what it needs, so look at them and decide for yourself. If you win this auction, to be on the safe side, I would load it onto a trailer. Rather be safe than sorry. The rear tailgate needs a new handle. So, I took an interior pic of the bed from behind the rear seats. The bed looked fine. There is a dent in the rear bumper. If you put some work in the exterior, I think this would make a very fine looking vehicle. The drive train is excellent. I am calling this a "project vehicle" and the winner of this auction must understand that this Avalanche is strictly sold "AS IS". I am starting off the bidding at a VERY, VERY low price. Tonight, I went to NADAguides.com and entered this vehicle with all of the options, leather seats, Z-71 package, towing, etc. The average trade on this truck is $6575 AND the Rough Trade value is: $5425. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an e-mail. Thanks again for looking & Merry Christmas to all. |

Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors
Wed, Oct 22 2014Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
Chevy rolls out Silverado HD High Country
Wed, 09 Apr 2014It's been a good week for heavy-duty truck buyers. First, Ram revealed the Black Package for its HD trucks, then it rolled out its new Power Wagon, and now Chevy's getting in on the action with its Silverado High Country HD. Okay, so it may not pack quite the attitude of Ram's latest 2500-series offerings, but the High Country HD will come as a welcome addition to the Chevy Trucks range to those looking to pull their horse, boat or other trailer without skimping on creature comforts.
Rolled out a little under a year ago, the High Country trim is Chevy's answer to the likes of the GMC Denali, Ford King Ranch and Ram Longhorn. It has until now only been offered on the light duty, 1500-series Silverado, but now extends to the 2500 and 3500-series HD models, as well.
So what sets a High Country pickup apart from lesser Chevy trucks? You'll be able to pick it out based on its chrome horizontal grille, body-color bumpers, 6-inch tubular side steps, 20-inch chrome wheels (18-inch on the 3500 and 17-inch on the dualie) and, of course, plenty of special badging. But it's inside where the High Country makes its mark, with a cabin decked out in saddle brown perforated leather, seats that are both heated and cooled, eight-inch touchscreen with full MyLink suite, Bose audio and park assist functions front and rear to keep those color-keyed bumpers looking fresh. (Though Chevy hasn't yet showed us the interior of the HD model, it'll presumably look mostly the same as the cab in the 1500 High Country in the gallery below.)
GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars
Wed, Dec 17 2014Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
