2001 Chevrolet Astro Base Extended Cargo Van 3-door 4.3l on 2040-cars
Loganville, Georgia, United States
This is one of my service vans with about 197,000 miles on Van. The motor that was put in had 95,000 miles on it. Had a lot of new parts put in the used motor, such as new cam, timing chain, timing chain cover, main seals, throttle body, plugs, cap, wires, distributor, water pump, belt, hoses, oil, oil filter, thermostat, exhaust gaskets, intake gaskets. The motor is clean and has no leaks. After spending over $2800 on labor and parts, still does not run right. Was told, after the fact, that the used engine that I had put in will not work with the 2001 van. The used motor came out of a 1998 Blazer 4x4. I really don't know why that is true as a block is a block. Its a 4.3. The van I have had for 2 years. Don't know what owner I am. You can do a car fax. Now, it is up to you if you want it shipped, at your cost or fix and drive, if you get it. I am in Loganville, Ga. 30052. Any questions, please ask before you bid. I am trying to let you know all the facts before. The body is in pretty good shape with no rust and never been wrecked. I will clean out the inside, leaving the shelving, and take off lettering after deposit received. $500 deposit due at end of auction. Will not accept a bid if you have no feed back or you can call me. Thanks and good luck on your bid. |

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
