2000 Gmc Safari Chevy Astro Awd Conversion Tv Dvd - Low Miles Raised Roof Hi Top on 2040-cars
Kansas City, Missouri, United States
2000 GMC SAFARI ALL WHEEL DRIVE CONVERSION (van is a Safari, basically same as an Astro) 114,000 MILES WE WOULD TAKE A VEHICLE AS A PARTIAL TRADE (no even trades). NOT SURE HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THAT AS AN ENDING BINDING AGREEMENT, BUT SEND IDEAS, INFO AND PICS. NO UTILITY VEHICLES. THERE ARE MANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE VAN BUT THERE'S ALOT OF BAD. SO PLEASE READ ALL THE LISTING CAREFULLY. BID IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING, I WILL BE MORE THAN THOROUGH. GOOD: AWD RUNNING BOARDS - RAISED ROOF TIRES ARE ALL MATCHING AND AT LEAST 75% TREAD NO RUST NO LEAKS QUIET ENGINE, SHIFTS SMOOTH, NORMAL TEMPERATURE, GOOD OIL PRESSURE DVD, POWER INVERTER, TV, CASSETTE, CD AND REAR STEREO REAR BENCH MAKES TO A BED NEW BUG SHIELD AND RAIN VISORS ALL THE REAR LIGHTS WORK LAST SEVERAL YEARS NON SMOKER NEW PARTS: FUEL PUMP FUEL FILTER OIL PRESSURE SWITCH POWER STEERING PUMP 2 POWER STEERING HOSES RETURN LINE FILTER TUBE HOSE (goes from reservoir to p.s. pump) FAN BELT BATTERY TAIL PIPE RUNNING BOARDS BAD: MARKS ON FRONT AND REAR BUMPER AND TEAR IN FRONT BUMPER CREASE ON FRONT DRIVERS FENDER DENT NEAR REAR DOOR BONDO PUTTY ON REAR DOOR REAR DOORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND SPRAY PAINTED AND YOU CAN TELL IT INSIDE OF REAR DOORS IS GREY NOT TAN RUNNING BOARDS WERE REPLACED AND DO NOT FIT LIKE THE OTHER ONES DID. YOU CAN TELL THE ARE NOT THE PROPER FIT BUT THE COLOR DOES MATCH NICELY. THE WHEELS HAVE PITTING AND RASH NUMEROUS SCRATCHES AND DINGS DOOR HANDLES ARE THE TYPICAL ASTRO HANDLES BUT THEY ALL WORK SEATS ARE EITHER STAINED OR THEY HAVE WEAR SPOTS - I JUST CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHICH IT IS THERE ARE A COUPLE SMALL HOLES ON THE PASSENGER SEAT (see pic) DASH HAS A TEAR SPOT (see pic) 2-4 STAINS OR BURNS ON CEILING ONE OF THE CAPTAINS CHAIRS IS BROKEN. IT IS NOT SHOWN IN THE PICTURES.. I HAVE THE CHAIR. IT WILL NOT SIT UPRIGHT. IT CAN BE REPAIRED AND IT'S YOURS IF YOU WANT IT. THE REAR BLINDS WERE REMOVED, AS THEY WERE BAD. THERE ARE 2 CUPHOLDERS IN THE REAR THAT NEED THE PLASTIC. THERE ARE STAINS ON THE CARPET. THERE ARE A CLUSTER OF SMALL TEARS ON THE BIG SLIDING DOOR. THE WINDOW SWITCH FELL INTO THE PASSENGER DOOR. IT'S BEEN IN THERE FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT I THINK IT WORKED. THE WINDOW GOES UP AND DOWN FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SOMETIMES THE LOCKS DON'T UNLOCK THE DOOR ALL THE WAY. THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT IS ON BUT THE BRAKES FEEL GOOD. THE REAR SPEAKERS WILL SOUND DISTORED WITH HEAVY BASS THE CHAIRS ARE FEELING BROKE IT. THE A/C WILL STAY COLD FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS AND THEN THE FREON LEAKS OUT THERE IS A WHINING ROAR COMING FROM THE REAR. MAYBE DIFFERENTIAL, MAYBE WHEEL BEARING. WE'VE NEVER CHECKED IT. THE VAN ALSO SEEMS TO TO KIND OF "SKIP" WHEN YOU MAKE A SLOW HARD TURN, IF THAT MAKES SENSE. WHEN YOU COME TO A QUICK STOP THE VAN DOES A PULSATING/VIBRATING. ROTORS MAY NEED TURNED. THE REAR AREA UNDER THE VAN ON THE SIDES IS PUSHED UP ON BOTH SIDES. WE THINK THIS MAY HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PRIOR RUNNING BOARDS. SINCE THE RUNNING BOARDS WERE GONE WE DON'T KNOW IF THE SIDES HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH HOW THEY WERE ON. BOTH SIDES ARE THE SAME WAY. THE BAD LIST MAY FRIGHTEN A BIDDER BUT I CAN TRULY SAY, IF I HAD TO DRIVE FROM MISSOURI TO MAINE AND LEAVE TOMORROW - I'D JUMP IN THIS VAN AND I WOULDN'T THINK TWICE. IN THE LAST YEAR WE'VE MADE ABOUT $1000 IN REPAIRS AND WE HAVE ALMOST ALL THE RECEIPTS AND MOST OF THEM ARE LIFETIME WARRANTIES. THE VAN STARTS EVERYTIME, DRIVES SMOOTH DOWN THE ROAD AND ON THE COLDEST SUB ZERO MORNINGS IT ALWAYS STARTED. |

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out
Thu, 29 Apr 2010Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.
Chevy Trax engineer says GMC version possible
Mon, Dec 8 2014The Buick Encore is doing so well and its platform-mate the Chevrolet Trax has such good reviewer vibes going for it already, that a GMC version hasn't been ruled out. During the recent press launch, Automotive News asked lead engineer Al Manzor if the Trax could wear a GMC-branded suit, to which Manzor replied, "I think that is certainly possible." That's a long way from telling us anything about the probability of a GMC version of the Trax, and a legion of questions would need to be answered before it could happen. How would a GMC version be priced to leave room for the $26,465 GMC Terrain but not eat into sales of the $20,995 Trax or the $24,035 Encore? Or would that matter? Could it primarily be considered to encourage a new faction of The Yukon Set at the compact end, GMC buyers being famously committed to the marque? And of course, would there be a Denali version? It'll probably be a long while before we have any kind of answers, but if you want to see it happen, the door to your campaign of persuasion is at least ajar.
GM Design shows what could have been and what might be
Thu, May 27 2021We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient. View this post on Instagram A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version. View this post on Instagram A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be.
