1994 Chevrolet Astro Cs Ext 8-passenger Van- 2 Owner- Very Low Mileage on 2040-cars

Two (2)-Owner. 99,000+ mileage. Dark red metallic paint.

In past two (2) years, we have spent over $2500 in general maintenance parts alone.  All done by a certified mechanic I have personally known for over 30 years.  It runs, handles & rides even better than when we purchased it.  Price just set to recover what we put into it in parts alone.  Our loss is your gain.

You will not find an Astro with half it's age in this GOOD of condition anywhere... or for this price.  First owner was a Fire Marshall's vehicle used for Fire Safety & Prevention Education.  Nobody hardly ever rode in the van but driver, & only educational materials were transported in the back.  No towing either (YES, it does have the Factory TOW package).  Never abused or trashed.  Interior is terrific, really.  Exterior has scratches, nicks, or dings common for it's age.  A brief list of what's been serviced and replaced in the past couple of years is as follows:

MECHANICAL
All brakes & rear drums, ball-joints, shocks (Hi-End Gabriels), cat-back exhaust all the way back, all front-end steering linkage from pitman arm outward, power steering pump, a/c compressor, distributor cap/rotor, spark plugs, transmission fluid & filter, fuel pump & sending unit (all-in-one), New battery last month!

COSMETIC
We never wrecked this vehicle.  However someone did push/scrape the left rear quarter/fenderwell while parked in a lot & they left w/o notifying us.  Appears they were parked next to us and, while backing out, turned their wheel too soon (see 2 pics).  NO seat tears, burns, wear spots, or sagging head liner (usually common for this age).  A few cracks in the dash. a couple rust spots on rear bumper from chipped chrome.  Had the luggage rack, wiper arms, and exterior window post areas all the way down both sides repainted (factory black) due to flaking/sun-fade.   Hood paint worn due to polishing.  Purchased an IDENTICAL driver's seat in order to have Armrests, Bolsters, & Reclining feature added for our comfort (and I mean exact material & color- OEM & like new).  Original seat comes with it if you'd like, and is in great condition as well.  Recent detail inside & out.  New OEM carpeted floor mats in 2nd & 3rd rows too.

You'll notice in the photos that we did NOT 'SLICK' this van up with a bunch of vinyl/interior and/or tire dressing to fool anybody about what they're bidding on (like some dealers do).  These pics are bare-bones after a quick wash.  What you see is what you get... just how we prefer too!

OTHER
Recently installed a new Pioneer CD/Aux stereo with Detachable Face, Remote, and Pioneer speakers.  We just bought a pristine condition 2002 Astro to replace this 1994 because we wanted a 'hi-top'.  The 2002 has the factory mag wheels that were the last year made with the same 15" size with a 5-bolt pattern (from 2003-05 they used 6-bolt, 16" wheels & tires).  We are keeping the aftermarket wheels in the pictures, so the mags from the 2002 will be installed upon sale before pickup or transport.  They are really nice & will update the appearance of this 1994 to look like a 2002.  An option for a buyer who doesn't care for nice looking wheels (?) is to request the factory steel wheels that came on this 1994 which include unused-since-new factory center wheel covers. The tires on those wheels are fair.  I can offer a price reduction to the buyer if they request this option.

AGAIN... this is a 1994.  The last year of production was 2005.  You won't find even a 2004 Astro that is in this good of condition mechanically or cosmetically anywhere near this price.  You won't be disappointed.  Even if you just want one for a work vehicle, this will do, as actual cargo models have all been beaten to death (checkout other listings)!  Just take out the two back seats & use it.  It does have privacy glass all around to help keep your tools & belongings from being in clear/open view.  All seats are included (no missing seats like some other listings).

SERIOUS inquiries ONLY.  If you're serious, then message me if you need additional pics or information, and I will respond ASAP.  NO TRADES.  CASH or LOCAL Cashier's Check ONLY.  Must have Paypal for non-refundable deposit required.

I just drove a 2002 from California to Kansas City.  That being said, I would drive THIS 1994 Chevy Astro across the entire country without hesitation!

TITLE is CLEAN & IN-HAND.

New Takata problem results in recall of 414 GM vehicles

Mon, Oct 19 2015

An airbag-inflator rupture discovered by Takata during testing has resulted in a new recall affecting 414 vehicles from General Motors, including 395 of them in the US. This latest campaign covers 2015 model-year examples of the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain. There are no reported breaks in any of these vehicles on the road, and the company estimates only one percent of them actually have the faulty parts. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), one side-airbag inflator failed a cold test at -40 Fahrenheit "releasing high pressure gas and propelling the separated components apart." The supplier told GM about the failure the next day. In these vehicles, the safety device might not only burst but the bag could inflate incorrectly, as well. GM and Takata say that a cause is not yet known, but they are "conducting an investigation." GM will begin notifying affected owners via overnight mail on Oct. 19. Dealers will replace the side airbag modules on all of the affected vehicles with new components outside of the suspect lot. All of the removed parts will also be collected for further study. Takata's faulty front airbag inflators have resulted in a serious scandal for the supplier. Initial figures indicated 34 million US vehicles are need of repair, though more recent figures have knocked that down to 23.4 million bad parts in 19.2 million automobiles. GM was already among the dozen automakers with models to fix, and some of its pickups were affected, along with the Saab 9-2X and Pontiac Vibe. GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 395 cars and crossovers in the U.S. because one of the front seat side air bags inflators may be defective. In the event of a deployment, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. GM is unaware of any incidents involving vehicles with these components, which were part of a lot in which one inflator failed acceptance testing at the supplier. Dealers will replace the side air bag module or modules in affected vehicles. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is 414, GM estimates 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
