Nice SUV that I have continually had the oil changed on since I bought it used in 2007. I have had all the fluid flushes, serpentine belt replacement and tuned up (new plugs), oxygen sensor. Passed state inspection within last week. Has a few dings in it (door dings, scratches, and interior has some wear and tear. Loaned it to family member for a month who smoked in it and burned about 3 little spots in seats. I had it detailed to clean out the smell, but still has the older car smell. Other than that it looks fine and has been a dependable vehicle. Plenty of room in back and seats fold down for hauling items if need be. Best Buy installed a Kenwood stereo (screen) with navigation, Sirius XM, bluetooth & CD player (phone works handsfree in truck along with Pandora). So just have our phone synced with stereo and you can call call from screen or when someone calls you, it picks up automatically so no fumbling for your phone. Has a 3-4 year old Interstate battery, front end alignment, K&N air filter. Never broke down on me and runs smooth, very quiet in fact, never has left me stranded in snow, flick switch to turn on 4x4. Front tires are nearing their lifespan though, but overall a good SUV. After market Kenwood touchscreen added with bluetooth, satellite radio and navigation.

GM opens military discount to 21M veterans and their spouses
Thu, Apr 7 2016May marks the start of National Military Appreciation Month, and General Motors is getting into the spirit by expanding its military discount program to, well, just about everyone. That includes a total of 21 million military veterans and their spouses, along with the current slate of active duty, reserve, and National Guard members. The discount can slash thousands of dollars off the price of a new Buick, Chevrolet, or GMC vehicles, with Automotive News listing an $1,100 discount on the top gas-powered version of the Malibu, the Premiere. Those that want a bit more spice can get $1,700 off the price of a last-generation 2015 Camaro SS, while truck buyers will enjoy $3,000 off the Chevy Silverado All Star. That's just a start, though, since the military discount can be paired with other GM incentives. The discount doesn't apply to everything, though. Some are understandable – none of Cadillac's vehicles are included in the deal, nor is the Corvette Z06. You'll also be unable to apply the discount to a range of base-level trims, like the Chevy Cruze or Equinox L, the base Colorado, or the entry level GMC Acadia, Canyon, and Terrain. GM patent reveals new two-stage turbocharger
Fri, Jun 24 2016Modern turbochargers may be some of the best ever made, but performance is something that engineers are always trying to improve. According to GM Inside News, General Motors (GM) is hoping to alleviate some of the negative aspects of a two-stage turbocharger setup with a newly-patented design. The patent, that was filed on May 19, 2016, reveals a clever bypass system that allows the engine, a four-cylinder unit, to optimize both the low-pressure and high-pressure inlets for its respective functions. According to the filing, a conventional two-stage turbocharger setup is engineered to allow both turbines to operate simultaneously at low and mid engine speeds. At high engine speeds, only the low-pressure turbine works. The setup can't isolate either the low or high pressure side, which can impair low-end performance. GM's new two-stage turbocharger setup looks to eliminate this by linking the high-pressure turbo to the exhaust manifold through the high-pressure inlet duct. The low-pressure turbo is attached to the high-pressure turbo by a low-pressure inlet duct, which is linked to a connecting channel. A single actuator that is housed in the exhaust manifold creates a bypass that can opens the high-pressure inlet or close the connecting channel. Depending on what the engine load and speed is, the ECU guides the actuator—a single rotating spindle with discs corresponding to flanges on the high and low pressure sides—to isolate one of the two turbos. Isolating the turbos allow the respective inlets to be engineered for the best possible fluid dynamic performance. The setup should increase performance and decrease lag. There's no word on what car this setup will make an appearance on, but it will most likely be used in premium vehicles before trickling down to the rest of GM's vehicles.
