If you are reading this for sale ad then you are looking for a new mistress and or a new girlfriend in the form of a new truck. I am just the girl for you. I am a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer that I do hope to find someone to date me better then the fool I have right now. Just to warn you I am a bit jealous to say the least if you have other cars in your life. I should be your best girl. Let me list some of things that would make you want to take me home with you. I have 95,000 miles on me right now with way many more to go before I get really old. I have an inline 6 cylinder with a automatic transmission. I am two wheel drive I am sorry about that. I have a trailer hitch to haul anything from a race car to a horse trailer or even a boat. I have a roof rack to carry extra things on top if you do a lot of shopping or out door type things. I have tinted back windows for those times you just might want to fold down the back seats and have an affair with someone in me. I have back seat air and heat controls for anyone that sits back there. I have alloy rims on 16inch tires which I will need a new pair of shoes after you take me home with you though. The current slob whines about not having the money for them and I know you would really take very good care of me over the current moron that owns me though. I do have some hail damage on the hood from the stupid weather around here, but I know there is still one very hot girl under the skin here though even with the small dents on the hood. I also do have one big scratch on the back passenger fender from some jerk and his door hitting me in parking lot some where. I do have an AM/FM CD player. I am really looking to be taken home by a really nice soccer mom or outdoor type of guy or even someone who really would get a lot of use out of this very nice SUV that I am. Not like the owner right now who things a new car is 20 years old and rusty for something to get excited about. I can easily carry five people with no issues and have cargo room in the back with no issues and can town something behind me with no problem. I also have the roof rack to carry extra things if you want to take a great vacation with me somewhere. Jason 1-847-772-4745 $8000 orb. |

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
