Greetings,
We are selling our winter truck as we are moving to Texas next month. We have owned it for about 2 years, and it has been an excellent winter/extra vehicle for us. I would not hestitate to drive it cross country right now, we have taken it on long trips, and it has always worked perfectly. We purchased it from a dealer, and I changed all fluids, coolant, oil, brake fluid, transimssion fluid and filter, diffs, and transfer case. AC was serviced/charged not long after. about 3000 miles ago I replaced the front rotors and pads. It was due for emissions inspection about 6 months ago, failed, and I did a complete tune up and it passed, although they told me that it did throw a transmission solinoid code. The transmssion solinoid cost about $30 dollars and is easy to change, you just have to drop the pan. I did not worry about it as it shifts fine. It has a heavy duty towing hitch on its, I don't know if wiring is good or not as I have never used it. Back bumper is rusty and someone backed into and dented it slightly, I have the black step in the back, as the barn doors will not close with the plastic on.
Positives:
I have a receipt that came with the vehicle that the top end of the engine was rebuilt @ 168,000 miles, at the same time the transmission was serviced and the torque converter replaced. The engine runs great and uses maybe half a quart every 6000 miles. I have used mobil 1 high mileage synthetic since we purchased it.
It has minimal rust, some surface rust on the rockers and bottom of the doors, minor surface in various other places, a small spot in the bed area, but nothing that is at all a functional or even really a cosmetic issue. I treated all rust when we bought it, and it has not progressed since then. the only exception being the back bumper.
AC works well, it does not blow quite as cool as it did when I first had it serviced, but both front and rear AC and heat work fine. 4x4 works well and the electronic tranfer case shift buttons work fine although the lights are intermittent.
Both interior and exterior are decent, not great, not awful, I removed carpet it bed after spilling some oil in it. If you are looking for a show piece, this is not the truck for you.
Negatives:
Oil pressure gauge does not work, and never has, no big deal in my opinion.
Gas tank has leak at top, so if you filled it up, it would overflow. It has a huge tank so I usually just put 25 gallons in, I think it holds 35.
Will need tires soon.
When in 4x4 it binds slightly at full lock. I replaced u joints when I did front brakes.
Rear door locks do not work with buttons, barn door works with buttons but the key lock is frozen.
All in all this is a great truck, and we will be sorry to see it go, but do not need it down south.
Full payment required before truck is picked up, I will mail keys and title when payment has cleared.
Let me know if you have any questions, need more photos, within reason, if you are close, you are welcome to come for a test drive.
Low or negative feedback bidders will have bids deleted.
Thanks for looking! No reserve, someone will get a great extra/beater/winter truck!

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs
Sun, 01 Dec 2013
The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.
LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again
Thu, Sep 25 2014The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
