Up for sale is my 1959 chevrolet Suburban Hot Rod with an aluminum ZZ4 crate motor that produces over 355 hp and over 400 ft.lbs. of torque! This is a hot rod that will carry your whole family + dogs in style, and fast! And it drives, shifts, stops, etc like a dream! This Suburban was converted a few years ago by its previous owner from its original state (an army-issued vehicle with a 6 cylinder engine, manual trans on the tree) to what it is today- one kick-a*@ fun car! It has the ZZ4 crate motor, rebuilt 350 trans, power steering, power brakes, side pipes, Edelbrock carb, upgraded suspension, rear end, brakes, steering column, steering wheel, ac/heat unit, etc. The Suburban features full glass all the way back, three rows of seats with new upholstery, new carpet up front, new gauge cluster, new cd/radio unit, freshly painted dash, new front glass, awesome chrome wheels, rear barn door style doors (which I think more functional than the clamshell style), and THE ORIGINAL WOOD FLOOR! And being a southern vehicle, there are no nightmare rust issues here! Yes you will find some surface rust, and a small spot here or there that would need attention to be perfect (see pics), but thats it- come check it out for yourself! No rotted out floorboards, quarters, doors, etc. Again- it even has the original wood floor! Now this was not built as a high-end show car- it was intended to be a fun daily family cruiser. Where I am going with this is that while the car is 100% functional, very responsive, and 100% ready to use and enjoy right now as is, it still needs some finishing, as mentioned below. Or it would make a great candidate for a complete frame-off restoration (either now or sometime down the road); all the panels are straight, doors open and shut and are aligned properly, hood is aligned properly, etc. It really is a very straight car with very few issues, and its 54 years old! And its a 3 owner car- me, the last guy, and the US Army! Now for some of the issues: it needs a paint job if you do not like the kind of rat rod look it has going for it right now… The ac/heat unit is not hooked up right now (never was under my ownership), cd player is there but needs speakers, speedo is not hooked up, it needs a headliner, its missing a windshield wiper (I kept it garaged and never drove it in the rain), there is no carpet in the rear (the wood floor is exposed on purpose) and some of the rear windows will need attention (a few of the panels are cracked and most of the rear windows could use new seals). Oh and there are no seatbelts in the rear… Other than that I can’t think of any other major issues. The Suburban is being sold “as is”, so of course it would be great if the buyer can come see the vehicle in person here in Marietta GA. If that is not possible please ask any and all questions before bidding! I have it garaged and can help with transporting the vehicle (storing it for a short time, meeting the driver of the transport company, etc)- I have shipped many vehicles in the past and am very familiar with the process. If you just have to have it and can’t wait 7 days for the auction to end, make me an offer and if we come to an agreement I will add a buy-it-now option to the listing. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this vehicle and will be very sad to see it go, but am trying to purchase a house, so some toys must go :( Thanks for checking out my auctions! |

2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
Why 2015 is going to be a huge year for trucks
Thu, Jan 22 2015Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn took center stage to introduce the 2016 Titan last week at the Detroit Auto Show. He spoke of the truck's new features, impressive Cummins V8 diesel engine and the extensive amount of time and money required to build a modern, competitive pickup truck. "We have done all of this because we see opportunity – an opportunity in the unmet needs of today's American truck customers," Ghosn said. He was speaking about the Titan, but his thoughts echo the industry's mindset: When it comes to trucks, find an opportunity and attack. Even with CAFE regulations looming and fickle consumer preferences, investing in trucks is a no-brainer for automakers. Some consumers will always need a truck for their job or lifestyle. And some people will always want one, whether they need it or not. With that in mind, here are four reasons why the pickup-truck sector is more important than ever and poised for growth in 2015. View 24 Photos The Nissan Titan Is Back Okay, it never left, but the Titan hadn't been redesigned since its launch in 2003, and Nissan sold more NV200s than Titans in 2014. It's an understatement to say the truck was languishing. That all changes with the 2016 model. The Titan will come in two variants, a traditional fullsize competitor and the Titan XD. The XD will lead the market launch, and it arrives late this year. It's pitched as a "whitespace" offering, Nissan sales and marketing vice president Fred Diaz said. The idea is to offer something in the general size and price range of a fullsize truck, but also have some of the capability of a heavy-duty truck. The XD uses a fully boxed ladder frame, the chassis design from Nissan's commercial division, and the wheelbase is about 20 inches longer than other Titan models. The XD, which Nissan is calling the flagship of the line, will be the only model with the 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8. It produces 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque, while being able to tow 12,000 pounds. V6 and V8 gasoline models will also be offered on the Titan XD and the standard, non-XD model. When production ramps up, the Titan will be sold with several cabs, beds and trims. New features include trailer sway control, an integrated trailer brake controller, more storage options in the cabin and even laminated front and rear side glass to reduce outside noise. All of this has given Nissan fresh confidence in an area where it admittedly has been lacking. "We can compete," Diaz told Autoblog.
2015 Chevrolet Trax
Thu, Dec 4 2014After the obligatory product presentation for the 2015 Trax, I caught up with Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's director of marketing for crossovers and cars, and asked him to elaborate on which markets his planners believe will be the hot starters for this tiny CUV. Without much hesitation, Majoros began to click off traditional sales havens for Subaru, namely, New England and the snowy bits of the East Coast, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest. That news might not surprise you, but it did me. Perhaps it's something as basic as the Trax's tall-hatchback looks, or the emphasis Chevrolet put on the urban driving cycle during my test in San Diego. But before my chat with Majoros, I'd considered this a crossover pointed at the Millennial city mouse more than his bumpkin cousin. But a closer look had me re-examining the granola cred of Chevy's smallest crossover. Having spent my fair share of time in New England and around New Englanders, I started by mentally listing the Trax's Subaru-like traits: practicality, thrift, all-weather ability and, well, just a dash of ugliness. (I suppose a hatchback needn't always be ugly to sell in Maine, or Boulder or Portland... but a 'distinctive' face doesn't seem to hurt.) After a day of driving through sunny San Diego and its surroundings, I can say that Trax makes an interesting case for itself against the standard bearers of the L.L. Bean set, but I'm less sure of its argument for young urbanites. The Trax looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. Chevy's has downsized its own, rather conservative crossover styling to fit the proportions of the subcompact Trax; to my eyes, it looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. That's fine for offering a cohesive look for the Chevy family of crossovers, but it seems out of step with the rest of the segment. If the Trax's current competitive set were the cast of a high school-based TV show, the Kia Soul would play the lovable nerd, the Nissan Juke perhaps the outsider musician and the Subaru XV Crosstrek the athletic outdoorsy kid. Chevy may see the Trax as the hipster chick wearing intentionally ironic mom jeans, but to me the styling is a little too on the nose; more like an actual grownup trying to hang with the kids. These mom jeans are genuine. Per my earlier point, that quasi-conservative look may be just fast enough for staid New Englanders, but I have a hard time seeing the bluff, big-Bowtied front end playing in Bushwick or Wicker Park.
