eBay Find of the Day: Mario Andretti's personal 2009 Corvette ZR1

With victory in the the Indianapolis 500, a Formula 1 World Championship, a win in the Daytona 500 and too many other motorsports accomplishments to list, Mario Andretti stands among not just the greatest American racing drivers of all time, but the greatest drivers, full stop. Apparently, the champ is also a fan of speed when not on the track, because now there's a chance to own what is said tobe his personal 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with just 12,872 miles on the clock. The eBay Motors auction page clearly shows Mario Andretti standing with the car, but the rest of the ad is admittedly short on details. The vehicle history report lists only one previous owner – ostensibly Andretti. The exterior is a handsome Blade Silver Metallic accompanied by a Dark Titanium leather interior. However, the seller keeps additional information to a minimum as well with the description simply stating, "This 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is owned by Mario Andretti and has been garage kept all its life. It is fully loaded with all option on this car." The future buyer will get a seriously great car along with some huge bragging rights at any party by touting its ownership history. We've reached out to the seller for more particulars and provenance, and will update this story if we hear back. In the meantime, the auction for this C6 ends on Thursday, January 8, and currently the reserve isn't met. The price sits at a hefty $68,100 as of this writing, with six bids registered. Recharge Wrap-up: NEDC's NOx problems, autonomous Chevy Volts

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) found a significant difference in NOx emissions in Euro 6 diesel cars in NEDC and WLTC testing. While 88 percent of the cars tested met emissions standards for NEDC, NOx emissions averaged five times higher under WLTC, with only 27 percent of vehicles under the limit. WLTC is considered to be a more realistic driving cycle, using hot starts and factoring a higher top speed as well as harder and more frequent accelerations than the NEDC. Employees will be able to use a carsharing app to reserve a car, which will then drive itself to the set destination. The project will allow GM to collect important data and experience to help the company more quickly develop autonomous driving technology. The lithium-ion batteries used to power the EV were recycled from other Renault EVs. With the electric Trafic, Carwatt – a company that converts vehicles to use electric power – aims to demonstrate the "circular economy" of batteries, which can provide more value through a longer lifecycle. Nissan Leaf sets another monthly sales record, Chevy Volt remains steady

Here we go again. Another month in the books and another month of record sales by the Nissan Leaf in the US. For October, the world's best-selling pure EV sold 2,589 units, which is 29.3 percent more than October 2013. That makes it 20 times in a row that Nissan can say that last month sales were better than the same month a year before. All told, Nissan has sold 24,411 Leafs in the US this year, a new record, reflecting an overall Leaf sales rate that is up 35 percent, year-to-date. Nissan isn't stopping, either. A new TV ad, one that, "encourages consumers to kick gas" by saving money on fuel will start airing today in major markets, according to Toby Perry, director of Nissan's EV marketing. You can watch it below. As for the Chevy Volt, things remained steady last month in the face of a new model that's coming in the second half of 2015. Chevy sold 1,439 Volts last month, which is about the same as September (1,394) but down 28.8 percent from the October 2013 despite GM having its best overall US October sales this year since 2007. So far, 2014 Volt year-to-date sales are down 14.9 percent through the end of October compared to 2013.
