Classic 1979 Chevy Silverado 20 on 2040-cars
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
I have a 1979 Chevy Silverado 20. The body is in good
condition, paint is fair, no major body damage and no rust at all throughout the vehicle, very
original truck from what I can tell. The truck is a 3/4 ton heavy duty truck, but has never been abused. It has a lot of power and pep still left in her. It has a new master cylinder and tail lights the tires have plenty of tread left. The bed of the truck is very solid and the railing and headache rack are a nice touch to the truck but could easily be removed. The interior is in
good shape, the dash has no cracks and the seat overall is in good shape. The driver side bottom could use some needle and thread or just throw a seat cover over it. I have used it as is with no problem. Instrument panel works as it should wipers as well, even cruise control and radio!
It has two gas tanks and I have used both tanks regularly and they both work as they should. Both doors open and all as they should and the glass is in good shape. The windows function as they should. The heater works but am unsure about the a/c it may need freon or more have not looked into it, usually just cruise with the windows down. The chrome is all in
good shape and all the trim pieces seem to be there as well as emblems ect. It has a very health sounding 5.7 liter V8 that
does start and run and idles very nicely, the automatic transmission shifts
great. Mechanically the truck performs very well, power steering is smooth and
the truck does not leak a drop of anything. I have had this truck floating down the
road at 85 mph with out a problem. I bought the truck from an
older gentleman who has owned it for the last 15 years and he purchased it from
the original owners. It has been garage kept most of its life. I bought it to
have as a nice Sunday driver and garage sale grabber, but plans have changed and we need
to sell. With a little work this truck could be very nice, but for now it
is a great driver and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. If someone wanted to
restore it and make it a nice show vehicle this would be a perfect candidate. If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to let me know, And I will get back with you
to the best of my knowledge of the vehicle I have over 20 pictures
of the interior and exterior as well as a video of the truck running,
and I can send pictures and a short video of any area of the car for serious
bidders. This vehicle is sold
AS-IS no warranty is written or expressed. 500 dollar deposit is
due at end of auction with remaining cost due upon pick up of vehicle. shipping/transportation
of vehicle is the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks you for your
interest, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. |

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles
Tue, 06 Aug 2013General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk
Tue, Oct 27 2015General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.
Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test
Tue, Oct 25 2016The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
