Chevrolet only automaker to win EPA's 2015 Climate Leadership Awards

Chevrolet was the only automaker to be on the list of entities for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Leadership Awards. Of course, the accolades had nothing to do with any vehicle's tailpipe emissions, General Motors can still be proud. The automaker is engaging in what it calls the Chevrolet Clean Energy Campus Campaign. Chevy is working with the US Green Building Council, among other groups, to find ways for buildings in primary and secondary schools as well as college campuses to reduce their collective carbon footprint via better design. The EPA pointed out the "carbon performance methodologies" used by Chevrolet to run the program and spur lower emissions from its campus partners. The effort is part of Chevrolet's broader goal to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by as many as 8 million metric tons of CO2. And it's going to take more than bunch of plug-in Volt and Spark EVs to do that. Other entities feted by the EPA include UPS, Bank of America, the cities of San Francisco and Oakland, Clorox and Tiffany & Co. Yes, Tiffany. 2016 Chevy Camaro teased as current-gen car prepares to hit 500k sales

Just as Chevrolet prepares to launch the sixth-generation Camaro, the current, fifth-generation car is about to hit a major milestone: 500,000 units sold in the United States. That's impressive, and to celebrate, Chevy has released this video, showing the Camaro Z/28 doing what it does best around a race track. But that's not all there is to see in this video. At the end, Chevy gives us a glimpse at the sixth-generation Camaro, expected to debut in the not-too-distant future. The fifth-generation Camaro has been a runaway success for Chevrolet since it went on sale in August 2009. Camaro sales passed Mustang in 2010, to become America's best-selling performance car – a title Camaro has retained for five consecutive years. In the process, the Camaro has helped bring new buyers to Chevrolet – with 63 percent of retail buyers new to GM. "The fifth-generation Camaro has clearly resonated with both long-time Camaro fans, and first time performance-car buyers," said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. "That sets the bar high for the next chapter of the car's history." Remarkably, the Camaro continues to gain momentum, even as the fifth-generation Camaro nears the end of production this year. In 2014, Camaro total sales increased 7.1 percent for its second-best year of sales since its introduction.

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing.
