Motor Trend reveals 2016 Chevy Camaro as Car of the Year

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro beat some very steep competition to earn the Golden Calipers as Motor Trend's Car of the Year. The magazine praised the sixth generation's fantastic engines, great handling, and lighter platform. "Our 2016 Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Camaro, is one of the finest driving vehicles in the world at any price," editor-in-chief Edward Loh said, "though its price is well within reach of the average consumer." The Camaro conquered some high-performance challengers to take the victory, including the Audi TT, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and Mercedes AMG GT S. It also bested technologically cutting-edge vehicles like the BMW 7 Series and Toyota Mirai. The latest Honda Civic rounded out the competition. To earn the prestigious award, nine judges evaluated the finalists in six categories: advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value, and performance of intended function. Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady gives Chevy Colorado to Malcolm Butler [w/poll]

Winning the Super Bowl, we'd imagine, is pretty sweet. Winning the MVP award at the Super Bowl, even more so – for many reasons, among them that you get a brand new Chevy Colorado, packed full of, you know... technology and stuff. Of course this year's Most Valuable Player was none other than Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quaterback who was crowned Super Bowl MVP for the third time and lead the Pats to win the Super Bowl for the fourth time. He makes tens of millions every season, and Mrs. Brady (a.k.a. Gisele Bundchen) probably makes an extraordinarily pretty penny herself. So what does one of the most successful and wealthy players in NFL history need with a new pickup truck? Not a whole lot, apparently: the Boston Business Journal reports that he gave the truck to Malcolm Butler, the rookie cornerback who intercepted Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson's pass on the Patriots' one-yard line with only twenty seconds to go and sealed the victory for New England. Which strikes us as a fitting gesture, even if Brady did keep the MVP trophy for himself. Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla P85D upgrades coming soon, lease a Chevy Volt for $149 a month

CarCharging has raised $6 million from shareholders and has restructured to save cash. The EV charging company plans to expand further in 2015 - with an eye toward achieving profitability - in part by investing in technology and "unlocking the value of our significant equipment inventory," says CarCharging CEO Michael D. Farkas. The group expects to reduce administrative costs by 40 percent, and has hired an interim Chief Financial Officer to help carry out its plans for growth. CarCharging raised the cash through offering convertible preferred stock to its shareholders, whom Farkas thanked "for their passion and patience." Read more in the press release below. Rydell Chevrolet in Los Angeles is offering Chevrolet Volt leases for $149 per month. In a video ad, Rydell offers the Volt for $169 a month with $3,390 due at signing, but another ad shows the offer at $149 a month with $3,550 down or $248 per month with $0 down. Tesla will upgrade the Model S P85D with higher performance and top speed. The free update, which is due "in the next few months" according to a statement from Tesla, will raise the electronically limited top speed from 130 to 155 miles per hour. "Additionally, an over-the-air firmware upgrade to the power electronics will improve P85D performance at high speed above what anyone outside Tesla has experienced to date," Tesla says.
