Extremely clean 2006 Chevy Silverado, WT package, 4.8 V8, automatic, a/c, tilt, cruise. Under 87,000 original miles. Recent inspection. Very clean inside and out. New battery in March. Everything works like it should. This has been my personal truck since Feb. 2011. The truck runs and drives great with no problems. Air conditioning is ice cold. Engine runs nice and smooth and doesn't use any oil between changes. I've changed the oil and filter every 3,500 miles since I bought the truck. The transmission shifts smoothly. I had the transmission flushed and the filter changed shortly after I bought it, which is something I regularly do with my vehicles. I installed a receiver hitch on the truck. There were no signs of it having one installed prior. The heaviest thing it's ever towed is a 3,000# tow behind boom lift. The body is straight and the paint is nice with only a few minor imperfections (see photos). It's safe to say that you're unlikely to find a cleaner, better running work truck for under $8k.

I bought the truck with a rebuilt title. I bought it from the man who had rebuilt it. He said the major damage was confined to the bed, which was replaced with a used one from another truck. There was minor damage to the front bumper which was replaced with a new one. There was no frame damage. Having rebuilt many trucks myself over the years his story appears to be true and accurate. The cab and front end all appear to be original with original paint in very good condition. I installed the factory alloy wheels shortly after I bought the truck and put a new set of tires on it. Those are the tires that are still on it today and showing normal tire wear. The truck bed has some typical dents on the inside, but the outside is nice and straight. It has a poorly applied roll on bedliner inside, which was painted over with black paint before I bought it. I gave it a second coat just to touch things up.

The driver's seat has a small nick in it, most likely from someone sitting down with a tool in their back pocket. Otherwise the seats show very little wear and are in very good condition. The center seat section is in very good condition and goes with the truck. I had removed it because that gave me more room for carrying tool bags inside the cab.

I'm in the commercial truck lettering business and this truck is much cleaner and in much better condition than most used work trucks that businesses bring me to letter. It's in very good condition and will serve your company well. If you need your company name and logo on it we could possibly work that into the deal.

Feel free to ask intelligent questions.  All legitimate sounding inquires will be answered.  I've done my best to accurately describe this truck and its condition so as to not waste your time or mine.  No, I don't need help selling the truck.  No, I won't cash out a check for larger than the asking price, nor will I take payments.  Thanks for looking!

Man spent $75 on a truck that lasted 38 years

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Absurd as it is, some buyers today are worried about getting their car to last throughout the term of their seven-year car loan. Minnesota resident Bob Sportel has the opposite issue: his Chevrolet truck seemingly won't die. Sportel needed a cheap ride to get to work when he took a job at a farmer's co-op 38 years ago, so he bought a rusty 1957 Chevy pickup for $75 from a farmer; at the time, the 20-year-old truck was almost as old as Bob was. After nearly four decades of daily driving and an estimated 300,000 miles, Sportel is still driving the truck today. Bolts secure a fender, Bondo secures the lights, what looks like a whole roll of duct tape keeps him sitting on the bench seat instead of in it. For a 58-year-old pickup that's never seen a garage or a new coat of paint – but did get its oil changed four times a year – that's not bad; Sportel thinks his repair bill hasn't got above $1,000 for the entire time he's owned the truck. He still has no plans to get rid of it, saying, "It just becomes a part of you." You can watch his story in the video above. News Source: KARE11.com Chevrolet Truck Classics Videos

Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024

Tue, Jan 23 2024

What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions.    Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.
