2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 With Mods on 2040-cars
Buchanan, Michigan, United States
|
I am selling my 2001 Silverado LS standard cab long bed, with 117,000 miles. The truck is in beautiful condition with some surface rust on frame (has not seen winters since I have owned it) with rebuilt 5.3 engine (truck came with 4.8, replaced with 2002 5.3 with 20,000 miles), transmission, rear-end, drive shaft, suspension, brakes, new tires, custom exhaust, and tune. I bought the truck in 2005 with 78,000 miles for $9,000 and have put over $25,000 in mods. Mods include, but not all, 5.3 W/ ported/polished heads with 5 angle valve job. Manley valves- 1.65 exhaust 2.02 intake, PAC Beehive springs. Custom Lunati CAM 218/224 int/exh @ 0.05" duration 0.558" / 0.560" int/exh lift 112+4 LSA. Roller rockers and hardened pushrods. Edlebrock headers/custom exhaust with cats removed and rear O2 sensors removed and deactivated. Radix Magna Charger. Rebuilt 4l60e trany, Yank TT3000.Rebuilt rear end with Detroit TruTrack/4.11's and Caltracs traction bars. Widened stock rear rims by weldcraftwheels Michigan to 8 inch, stock is 6.5 inch. Tuned by KLUG'S SS. New brakes, battery, belts, all fluids changed as of 2013. The truck puts out 500hp+ at rear wheels. The only reason I am selling is because I am looking for a new project or toy. Please don't waste my time with ridiculous offers, joy ride fetishes, scams of buying it and having it shipped, or any other BS. If you are truly interested in the truck, call me and make an appointment to see it in person or at least call me with questions. Truck is currently stored next door at neighbors. Ask for Jeff five seven four seven zero seven five one eight eight.
3/29/2014 I wanted to add that the mods made were done around 100k miles and then again around 105k miles. The body has 117k miles on it, the transmission, drive shaft, rear end, brakes, coltracs, second cam shaft (had a Z06 cam first swap), upper valve assembly, oil pump, have about 5k miles on them. I average about 1500 miles a year on the truck. The oil gets changed before storage, after, and usually during the summer. I use castrol semi synthetic 10w30, with either a wix or Pureone oil filter. The radiator is stock with new core that is twice the size as stock with added extra trans cooler. She has two fuel pumps running 42lb injectors. I usually run the highest octane available and mix it with 110 racing fuel, about half and half. The front tires are 245/70/16 and the rears are 285/60/16. My goal was to make a sleeper and she has performed very well! EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides
Sat, Apr 26 2014In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party. The Tesla Model S was the best-selling EV of 2015
Thu, Jan 14 2016According to numbers crunched over at Hybrid Cars, the Tesla Model S was the best selling pure electric vehicle last year with 50,366 deliveries. These numbers might not tell the whole story, since Tesla reports deliveries made in 2015 that might have been sold in a different calendar year, while other makers are tallying sales. However, it's inarguable that the Model S ended up in more worldwide driveways than the second-place Nissan Leaf, which did about 43,000 sales. In the US alone, Leaf sales were down 42.8 percent year-on-year, from 30,200 in 2014 to 17,269 last year, and that decline also increased throughout the year. That marks a great finish to a great start to 2015, when Tesla took the lead in EV sales in the US for the first quarter. On top of that, as of last year the Model S becomes the second-best selling EV ever, with 107,148 deliveries since the middle of 2012. It trails the Nissan Leaf, with well over 200,000 worldwide sales. The Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera combo takes a close third, with about 106,000 sales. The Nissan and Chevy rivals both launched at the end of 2010, a 16-month head start on the Tesla. Down the charts, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which continues to be forbidden fruit for our market notched 39,000 sales. The BYD Qin PHEV sold 31,898 examples in China, and BYD would take the overall victory from Tesla with 58,728 deliveries if you counted all of its EV and PHEV production, such as its electric buses. The BMW i3 nabbed fourth place with 24,057 global sales. In 2011 the Munich automaker said it wanted to sell 30,000 i3s annually by 2014, but by the time the car launched the company considered 15,000 annual sales 'great for now,' so the 2015 number seems a fine place to wind up. Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
