1997 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Thanks for viewing my 1997 Silverado Z71. IF you have been looking for one of these trucks, this is the one. It has only had one owner since new. I unfortunately have to sell it in order to move up to a Tahoe that has more seating. I even still have the bill of sale, maintenance records and window sticker for the truck. the truck is in very good condition and the paint still has a great shine to it, and always still get compliments. (Some very small scratches here and there.) The interior looks absolutely immaculate. I took some close up pictures so you can see that even the carpets look brand new, and still have the original GM floor mats. The headliner is starting to sag a little near the top of the windshield. It is fully loaded with all power options including windows, locks, and drivers seat. It has ice cold air conditioning ( freshly charged for the Summer) and all maintenance has been religiously performed when it was needed or before. The oil was changed every 2,500 miles. The Z71 has the 5.7 (350) engine and runs flawlessly with great oil pressure and only has 149,000 miles on it which if you know these trucks, its very low for the year, barely broken it for a Chevy! These engines easily go over 300,000 miles as long as you take care of them. The transmission is new and shifts perfectly and the 4 wheel drive works as it should, it is all set and ready for another 150,000 miles or more. The truck also has the 3rd door option along with the Z71 package that includes heavier off-road suspension and a towing package (was never used to tow.) It has a factory CD player and even a cassette deck. The wheels on the truck are Moto Metal 17" wheels. The factory spare has never been used. The is a few small spots of rust on the rear bumper but the rest of the body on the truck is rust-free, also including the cab corners, rockers, cab mounts, etc. There is some normal surface rust on the underside but that's it. The body is straight and was never in an accident. There is a bedliner in the truck that has preserved the factory paint, and kept the bed floor in new condition. Feel free to email any questions you may have. I am listing the truck with a reasonable reserve and part of the proceeds will be going to the Wounded Warrior Project charity that I have been a member of for the past 5 years. It will also help to pay for the new military graphics presently being designed for the Camaro for the upcoming year. Check out warriorcamaro.org if you get a chance. Thanks |

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be
Thu, May 27 2021We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version. Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years
Wed, Jun 25 2014A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.
