This is a very rare opportunity to own, what really is an almost brand new 14 year old pickup in MINT condition. The truck was bought new in Durham, North Carolina by a collector who had two other S-10 pickups with even lower mileage than this one. All his vehicles were kept in doors and rarely driven. He was good friends with the owner of the local Chevy dealership and when he passed away the dealership purchased the trucks from him and sold them to the public. A gentleman in Phoenix bought the truck and had it shipped out here to Arizona in 2012. The second owner here in Phoenix put about a thousand miles on the truck and now is selling the truck. He originally purchased it with the idea of putting AC in the truck but then decided that he did not want to invest the money in the truck and sold it. I have had experience with putting AC in these trucks and so I purchased it from him to be my daily driver. Two days after I bought the truck I tore my right rotator cuff and had to undergo surgery. Now I will be in a sling for 6 weeks followed by another 3 months or so of therapy before I can use my right shoulder again. My orthopedic doctor recommended that I not use a manual transmission as my daily driver going forward because my tear was very severe and he thinks it will compromise the procedure. So I am making it available for sale. The pictures speak for themselves and don't really even do the car justice. It is in MINT condition with only 9902 miles on the truck. There is not one ding or scratch on the truck. There are two tiny paint chips one on the front edge of the hood and one on where the tailgate meets the edge of the bed on the drivers side. That is it. Interior has no stains, no tears, no funny smells. Looks and smells brand new. There is not even wear on the floor mats. The grain pattern on the steering wheel and the shifter is like new. All glass is like new. Everything works on the truck. It is a base truck with no power options or AC. Estimates for AC installation are from about $1500-2000 if you have a shop do it with all factory parts. Obviously if you did it yourself the cost would be much, much less. The truck was ordered with base package, no AC and the big motor (4.3L V6) with the manual trans by the original owner because that's what he preferred and he liked to go fast. This little truck does scoot right along and is a blast to drive. The second owner put on the Keystone Raider classic rims with brand new tires. He liked the old school look that these rims gave the truck. I do not have the original wheels but they are abundantly available if you wanted to go that route. The truck is spotless, and runs and drives as new (probably because it is basically new). No leaks, no funny noises and no rust or corrosion of any kind anywhere on this truck. This truck sold new for somewhere in the neighborhood of 14k when brand new. The new owner will get a near new truck at less than half of this amount. This is truely a great deal on what has to be one of the lowest mile 1999 S-10 pickups on the planet. If you have questions please ask and I will do my best to answer them. Check the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence. This truck CANNOT disappoint, it is that nice.

Weekly Recap: Electric Rapide concept showcases Aston's future

Sat, Oct 24 2015

Aston Martin showed off an all-electric Rapide S prototype this week and announced an agreement with investment firm ChinaEquity to explore development of a production version of the sports sedan. The car could arrive in about two years if the project advances, and it would be built in Gaydon, England. The concept car, called the "RapidE" was developed with Williams Advanced Engineering. The electric Rapide is meant to highlight British innovation, and it was revealed during a state visit by Chinese president Xi Jinping to the United Kingdom. Spec were not available for the concept on display. "The car we showed in London is a fully running concept but not yet defining [of] our choice of battery, motor, inverter, etc," spokesman Simon Sproule said. "Now that we have a clearer path for producing the car, we will be defining all the parameters." Aston Martin has been vocal about its electric ambitions this year, and Sproule told us at the New York Auto Show that an all-electric Rapide could cost $200,000 to $250,000 or more. "It's a study, but we're serious about it," he said. Some reports have indicated the electric Rapide could pack as much as 1,000 horsepower. Aston considers electric technology the strongest play for modernizing its powertrains and meeting emissions standards around the world. Hybrids and all-electric models can offer high outputs and strong torque delivery, which is in keeping with the Aston's image as a sportscar maker. Company brass prefer this option over dropping down to four-cylinder engines. And yes, V8s and V12s remain part of the plan. The electric push is part of Aston's future strategy to remake its lineup, which includes refreshing its sportscars, building a production version of the electric all-wheel-drive DBX concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and adding a four-door Lagonda. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Domino's serves up purpose-built delivery car Domino's revealed a purpose-built pizza delivery car based on the Chevy Spark. It's called the DXP, for Delivery Expert, and it can handle up to 80 pizzas. The pies stay warm thanks to an oven located behind the driver's seat, and the DXP is sauced up with a puddle-lighting feature that projects the Domino's logo outside of the car. Power comes from the Spark's stock 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 84 hp that gets up to 39 mpg on the highway. Chevy dealers will be trained to service the DXP.

Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes
