Up for sale is a well maintained 1996 Chevrolet (Chevy) S-10 pick-up. This truck has been in our family since it was new. I have owned the vehicle since around 40,000 miles and I am the second owner. This was my first vehicle and as such it has been well maintained and given plenty of TLC over the years. The truck currently has 211,XXX miles and is still my daily driver after 15 years of ownership. Vehicle is fully documented from mile 1 showing all regularly scheduled maintenance, upgrades and repairs. Documentation will accompany the vehicle for the new owner.

The 1996 model year was part the last body style of the S-10 that Chevy would produce before the 2WD model ended production in 2003. This truck has the Vortec 4.3L V6 which puts out 175 HP and 240 ft-lbs of torque (same as the SS models). It also has the five-speed manual transmission which was not available with the SS models (Chevy only offered them with automatic transmission). Onyx black exterior has been paired with the graphite interior.

The truck has had a few cosmetic modifications over the years with the addition of Super Sport / SS badging all around and the standard grille was replaced with a flat black one to better match the color of the truck and replicate the SS look which had color coordinating grilles. The original silver grille is included with the truck if the new owner wants to restore the truck to its factory appearance.

Other than the expected minor wear and some surface rust in a couple locations, there is no damage to the vehicle. The truck was involved in a minor incident in the early 2000s. Another driver backed into in it with their hitch receiver, denting the front bumper and permanently deforming the plastic license plate mount. All damaged components were replaced with brand new OEM/GM parts. All of the original parts which were removed as part of the repair will be included with the truck as well.

The interior is in very good condition. There is one small tear in the driver's seat which is part of 60/40 split bench design. Options on this vehicle include power steering, power brakes (disc front / drum rear), AC, AM/FM stereo with CD player and full size spare tire. Also included with the truck is a Truxedo tonneau cover (Lo Pro QT #543101) and form fitting all-weather indoor/outdoor car cover. The bed cover and car cover alone are worth over $500. Might make a nice custom project to drop in a V8 or just continue to use it as a low budget daily driver.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions and I would be happy to answer them. I am available to show the vehicle most evenings after 5:30PM CT or on weekends. We are located in Plymouth, Minnesota (Minneapolis - Twin Cities) and have the clear title in hand.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?
