1994 Chevy Chevrolet LS S10 S 10 4WD long bed pickup truck TRADE BARTER TRADES ?

I’m selling this truck to go back to a short bed  2wd version vehicle.

Possible trades and cash will be considered for the following newer vehicles:

  • Saturn Vue 2wd
  • Honda Pilot or CRV 2wd
  • Toyota Tacoma or smaller pickups 2wd
  • Ford Ranger 2wd
  • And possibly????  2wdJ.

I rarely if ever use 4wd so I really don’t need it. And the 4wd on this vehicle works fine.

Let it be known, I will not use the word “loaded” when describing this truck.

I have no idea why dealers use this word unless a vehicle has “all” available options on the vehicle. Your comments on “loaded” will be kindly acknowledged.

I’m not a dealer as this truck has been a daily commuter to the office for almost 4 years.

Everything works on this truck. If it had an electrical or mechanical issue, it was properly & promptly repaired by this old time engineer.

The overall condition is very good for a truck of this age. All original except for the normal wear & tear mechanical parts that were replaced for preventive & corrective maintenance reasons. Any parts that were replaced where high quality & not low cost run of the mill replacement parts for reliability purposes. I don't believe in taking shortcuts.

Keep in mind, this is a 1994 and some maintenance will be needed from time to time (like any other vehicle).

 Low miles for it’s age…<133K miles !!!

Always parked & stored in a heated garage when not in use.

Solid, straight body with (can I say this) no rust.

The undercarriage does have spots of light surface rust as well as the full length box/ladder frame. It has been treated with carwell rust proofing treatment by a local Mercedes mechanic to protect all exterior panels.

The passenger side lower door does have a slight crease/scratch as seen in the pictures. No perforations or rust on this area. This crease was on the vehicle when I purchased the vehicle approximately 4 years ago.

The interior is in near excellent condition. The seat have always been covered to protect the original upholstery. The is a small hole on the drivers seat door edge by the seat belt area but otherwise no further damage.

This vehicle has the “known” & obvious options:

  • Vortec VIN W V6 engine.
  • Optional full gauge instrument cluster.
  • Intermittent windshield wipers.
  • 4 Wheel drive non-electronic shift package (very reliable).
  • Automatic transmission with overdrive (very smooth)
  • AM/FM cassette
  • Overhead illuminated vanity lights
  • Map lights
  • Tow package with the optional vortec v6 ????? I don’t know for sure. I have towed one large u-haul trailer down state once with no issues & plenty of power to climb hills in 2wd.

Overall, this truck does not have all the electrical, convenience options however, this is what makes this truck very reliable from a mechanical standpoint.

When this vehicle was purchased approximately 4 years ago, our local GM dealer changed ALL the fluids (excluding the power steering fluid). This included the gearcases & transmission & coolant flush.

The fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injection spider assembly & cat back exhaust was also replaced by a local GM dealer 3 years ago.

Newer all season Michelin radial truck tires. Brake pads, rotors, shoes & calipers replaced last year.

This truck has always utilized Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 motor oil & premium micronic grade oil filter. Does not use or burn oil.

I would feel very comfortable driving this truck anywhere across country as the radiator, water pump, all coolant hoses, coolant, Delco heavy duty battery, idler pulleys (2), vacuum lines & serpentine drive belt was replaced last summer.

This quality truck does have zerk fitted grease joints not found on newer trucks.

***The only issue with this truck (since I purchased it approximately 4 years ago), is the play in the steering. The steering does not pull at highways speeds but in heavy winds, 1/2 inch CW and/or CCW steering correction will need to be exerted lightly to keep the vehicle going straight, at highway speeds in heavy winds. The looseness in the steering has been isolated down to the power steering gearbox. I have not replaced the gearbox but it is available @ Rock auto for $90+ including core charge. This is a common issue with old chevy trucks (as my old 1989 Silverado had this characteristic also) but easy to remedy by replacing the steering gearbox (unless there is an adjustment I don’t know about).

NOTE:

The buyer will ultimately be responsible for pickup & applicable shipping arrangements of this nice truck from my location.

I will assist the buyer in the paperwork from this location but not delivery of this vehicle from my location.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels." Read more at Green Car Congress. Global transportation energy consumption is expected to increase by 25.4 percent by 2035, according to a report by Navigant Research.
