Up for auction is one 1993 Chevy S10 King Cab Pickup. This has been a project of mine for the past year or so. It is only for sale because I have acquired an S10 Blazer project and can't keep both. This truck has been my daily driver and parts hauler for my street rod business since I have owned it. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. The truck itself has just over 198,000 miles but the engine has been replaced. I was told it was a GM replacement but I have NO proof of that all I can tell you is that at a 3,000 mile oil change the oil is still brown, not dirty and black, and that it doesn't use oil between changes. It is fuel injected and runs, drives, idles excellent. It drives like the ones I had back in the 90's when they were new. I believe it has the original clutch in it and I have not replaced that. I have spent over $3,000 on it in the time I have owned it. I intended to put a V8 in it but after seeing how good it runs and finding that it gets 24-25MPG hwy, I decided to leave the engine alone. The AC has been converted to 134a and has a VERY slow leak. It could stand Freon right now. The AC was charged almost a year ago and it has taken until now to leak down. My intent was to gas it and leave it alone since it stayed up almost a year. Under the hood is very clean and the exposed surfaces of the motor are still aluminum colored not oily and dirty. The following are the new parts I have installed since I owned it:

17x7 American Racing Torq Thrust Wheels with 215/45 and 235/55 Nexen tires ( approximately 3,000 miles )

Western Chassis 2" drop spindles

Western Chassis 2" drop coils

3" rear drop blocks

Front Brake Hoses

Front Ceramic Brake Pads

Inner and outer wheel bearings

Brake Rotors

Wheel Seals

Front Shocks

New Rear Window Rubber (Replaced Sliding Window with a flat glass)

New Pop Out King Cab Window hardware (pivots and latch hardware, screws, etc)

Tinted Windows

New Tailpipe (muffler had been replaced when I bought it)

Grille

Front Marker Lights

Front Parking Lights

Taillights

Front Smooth Bumper

Blazer Rear Bumper

Aluminum Fender Trim

Billet Specialties Shifter

Outside mirrors replaced with smaller style mirrors

It just had the oil changed and a new air filter installed

Front air dam

Drivers side door hinge pins and bushings.

The interior is what you would expect from a 1993 truck with 198K miles. The seats aren't torn but they are stained in places and the carpet also has some stains. The cloth on the door panels could stand attention. The pics of the interior are worth a thousand words.

Over all this is a really good truck you can go to a cruise in as is or you could continue to make a few improvements and have a really nice truck. It gets compliments everywhere we take it and when we wanna hit a cruise in and leave the old car at home, we have been driving the S10. Its very comfortable and cruises at highway speeds no problem. It never runs hot. It drips a small drip from the trans seal but that's all. The rearend seems to be fine and doesn't make noise.

The only problems I know with the truck are the following:

It has had the king cab jump seats removed. I intended to put the speakers in the sides of the cab but didn't get that completed

The headliner board is out and will be included so the new owner can re-cover it or LMC has the updated ABS plastic one.

It has rust  (Visible but not holes) in the left lower cab corner that will need addressed if the truck is painted. Right now you don't really notice it when the truck is sitting unless you get down and look.

The AC needs Freon as mentioned above

It has its share of dings and scratches you'd expect for its age. Its had the plastic bed liner removed which shows typical rubbing on the bed ribs from the liner. The bed isn't beat up and dented up though. I had intended to do a spray in. The body has some shallow dents that aren't easy to get a photo to show and that aren't visible in all light conditions.

This is a really solid truck and I have done my best to describe it fairly and accurately. I believe in fair eBay listings.  I have looked for a good king cab for a long time and this is the one I chose. That speaks for its condition. I have owned many of these.  Its better than 95% of the ones you will find of its age. I wouldn't be selling it if I hadn't found an S10 Blazer just as solid. If you are local, come have a look, bring cash and someone to drive your old truck home because you will buy this truck! If you have questions call 423-823-2111 before 10PM EST and I will be glad to talk to you and/or answer your questions. I have a reserve set for the truck and the Buy It Now price. You would be hard pressed to find one then put this much new stuff on it, for the Buy It Now price.

Truck sold AS IS WHERE IS. It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Continental US Bidders only. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and I will try and make it easy for your shipper to pickup as I can. Payment is by cash in person or wire transfer ONLY. Title will NOT BE RELEASED until payment is made in FULL. Thanks for looking.

Sinkhole Opens Up In National Corvette Museum, Swallows Eight Cars

Wed, Feb 12 2014

More cars are being moved inside the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. to avoid falling down the same sinkhole that swallowed eight classic sports cars early this morning, Autoblog reported. Museum officials said the hole was discovered when motion sensors activated around 5:45 a.m. The rescue mission can be viewed on the museum's live feed cameras, which weren't working after the sinkhole emerged. A 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil," both on loan from General Motors, were among the cars that fell into the sinkhole. The museum owned the other affected Corvettes, which included a 1963 Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car and the 1 millionth Corvette ever produced. The state of the cars at the bottom of the hole isn't known, but trial lawyer and sinkhole expert Ted Corless said the cars may be a total loss for the museum and GM. "Most states, including Kentucky, exclude damage caused by sinkhole activity," he said. "There will be, in all likelihood, a claim made, but a lot of policies would specifically exclude these kinds of damages." Corless has 15 years experience dealing with sinkholes. He said that typically neither the building, nor the cars themselves are protected under their insurance policies. "I would have to say, more likely then not, they're going to have an uninsured loss measured in the hundreds of thousands of dollars." The museum is closed Wednesday while a structural engineer assesses the damage. Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?

Sat, Mar 26 2016

High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.
