1988 Chevy S-10 Pickup (ex Us Airforce Truck) on 2040-cars
South Elgin, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is my ex US airforce S-10 this truck has 43510 original miles on it most of its time was sitting on one of several airforce bases first on the east coast when new then sent to grissom AFB in central Indiana where picked up from. I then had to put a fuel pump in and had the fuel tank cleaned out of all the old stale gasoline added a new battery, door weather stripping, window felt and tracks, tires, carpet and heater core. The truck has a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine hooked up to a 700R4 overdrive trans the truck drives great its not a power plant but gets great fuel mileage and I wouldn't hesitate to drive this anywhere in the US. The color is the original airforce strata blue as seen in the pics the clear coat is gone on the hood and roof from sitting out in the sun for years the paint has many dings and small scratches there is a bit of rust on the cab corners and the corner of the DS door but no holes or rust through. Its pretty hard to find a truck like this in the Midwest and shipping a rust free one from the west coast is now well over a thousand dollars. Its a very reliable truck and the only reason its being sold is because I just purchased a full size classic chevy truck and have no room for it as for the price try to buy a truck now days with the low mileage and clean body this truck has in the Midwest you would be lucky to get one at three times the price if you are looking for a show truck or a truck to haul a five thousand pound boat and trailer this is not the truck you want if you want a truck you can drive anywhere economically and not worry about breaking down this is the perfect vehicle. I have hauled paver bricks and firewood with this truck and it handles the weight better than one would expect it to there is no cracked or broken glass anywhere on the truck. You can see the PS window crank is not on the truck in the pics the clip was lost when removiving the door panel for installing the window felt channel s it will be replaced before the truck sells. It also comes with the original matching fiberglass cap and two spare tires one window is out of the cap it was broken from a rock thrown from a snowblower this truck has been heavily undercoated sometime in its past it has a military spec 20 gallon gas tank and heavy duty suspension the truck is up for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if it should sell locally any questions call me at eight four seven four six eight nine six seven six.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.
LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again
Thu, Sep 25 2014The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
GM cutting production at two plants
Thu, Feb 26 2015General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though.
