HAVE YOU BEEN SEARCHING FOR A HIGH QUALITY, INVESTMENT GRADE, SHOW-STOPPING 1950's CHEVROLET PICK-UP TRUCK THAT YOU CAN ALSO DRIVE AND ENJOY IN COMFORT? WOULD YOU LIKE IT TO HAVE ICE COLD AIR-CONDITIONING, POWER STEERING, POWER 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES, POWER WINDOWS AND A KILLER STEREO SYSTEM? DO YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT PUTS DOWN SOME SERIOUS HORSE POWER YET CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE? WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR TRUCK TO STAND OUT FROM THE REST WITH SOME GREAT CUSTOM FEATURES?? If you answered yes to some or all of the above then this beautiful, Fully Restored '55 Chevy 3100 might be the one you have been waiting for!! We acquired this awesome '55 Chevy 3100 Hot Rod from a gentleman who we have purchased 5 other high end cars from. He is a true Car Guy who gets his pleasure more from the build and initial unveiling then he does from long term ownership. He has limited space so he loves to move on to the next toy shortly after having fun with one. Each one of the cars we have purchased from him have been extremely high quality and this Galaxy Silver 3100 Big Window Pick-Up is no exception!!! This truck had just come off a very high end restoration in late 2012 when he located it. The truck was finished but he loves to take his Hot Rods to the next level as he did with this truck. There are under 1000 miles since the restoration and under 500 miles on the current 450 horsepower 383 Stroker motor. As you will see in the pic below we also bought a gorgeous '55 Chevy Bel Air that we will be listing for sale soon. I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video of the actual dyno test of the 383 Stroker motor, a video so you can hear this truck start up and running, a final walk around video, and an honest description to help you decide if this awesome '55 belongs in your garage! Sit back and enjoy!! The all steel body on this '55 looks fantastic! Body and paint were done in late 2012 and the color is called Galaxy Silver. I think that the paint actually looks better in person then it shows up in the pictures. Body panels are extremely straight and it appears that this was a very rust free truck to start out. The body has been tricked out a bit with door handles removed and smoothed out, frenched in antennae, and a custom rear roll pan with smoothed in tail lights. Some very tasteful, professional pin striping was added by the previous owner. Body and paint are in near flawless condition with just a few very minor blems keeping it from being absolutely perfect. This was not built to be a trailer queen. It was built to be driven and enjoyed but will still win plenty of trophies if that is what you enjoy. All of the chrome looks new and the glass is all in excellent shape and has been professionally tinted. Beautiful dark finished wood bed floor with stainless hardware and rails. A couple of cool Chevy Coolers were mounted to enable to you tote your favorite beverages to any of the events you attend in this sweet Hot Rod. Here is a walk around photo tour of the body and at the end of this listing there is a video walk around as well: Complimenting the gorgeous Galaxy Silver exterior is an equally stunning Red and Black interior that has been adorned with custom stitching and pin striping that flow with the exterior highlights beautifully. The 2-tone custom bench seat was embroidered with a design that mimics the custom pin striping and is extremely comfortable and has the look and feel of leather but is a synthetic, durable material. Door panels are finished in red leather and the carpeting and headliner have also been custom done in red. It is hard to miss the expensive, Custom black and red steering wheel from Con2R that is mounted on a Ididit Tilt Steering Column. The dash still retains much of its original appearance but with a sweet set of Autometer gauges, the Vintage Air conditioning control panels and vents neatly cut in to the dash and a Custom Auto Sounds digital stereo neatly mounted. If you fold back the bench seat you will find the set of speakers and amps that provide some sweet tunes when desired. Of course all of the lights and gauges are working correctly. Windshield wipers function thanks to an upgraded Rain Gear Electric wiper conversion. Power windows work great. I think you will find the interior to be as sweet as the exterior and it will draw crowds at the shows for sure. Here is a look inside: Hopefully at this point you will agree that this '55 is a real beauty. But, is she a beast too??? You bet she is...thanks to a freshly Professionally built , Fuel Injected 383 Stroker V8 pushing out over 450 horsepower mated to a 700R4 Automatic transmission with overdrive? When the previous owner had acquired this awesome '55 it had a crate 350 under the hood. He loves a little extra horsepower so it wasn't long before the newly built stroker motor arrived for installation. I am including a video of the Dyno Test from the builder below so you can see the numbers. I am also including a video of this baby starting up and running. There are under 500 miles on this Stroker Motor so it has barely been broken in yet. This Chevy Truck fires right up and fuel is provided by the MSD Atomic Electric Fuel Injection set up. Edelbrock polished intake, March Aluminum Belt Drive System, Polished Vintage Air Compressor and lots of other polished goodies dress the engine bay up nicely for show. This truck runs cool thanks to the Aluminum radiator and electric fans. Ceramic coated headers breathe through a great sounding set of Flowmasters and out the dual exhaust for a sound that any muscle car enthusiast will appreciate. Be sure to listen to the video of this truck start up and running below. As you will see in the dyno video the original goal was to make 450hp but this motor actually put out 484 horsepower. This truck not only has plenty of horsepower for some straight line, stop light to stop light fun, but the 700R4 transmission helps this truck cruise at any speed with ease. This truck handles the road beautifully as well. Power steering feels great and this truck stops awesome with the help of the Power 4 wheel disc brake set up. The Ford 9" rear has 3:73 gears and a great 4-link set up with coil overs helps this truck put the power to the ground in comfort. Great looking set of Billett Specialties 20" wheels. Rear was mini-tubbed to fit the 315/35/20's with 255/40/20's up front. As you will see in the pics below the engine bay and undercarriage are nicely detailed and very clean and this truck is show ready everywhere you look. The best part is that you will have a blast driving it to the shows or anywhere you decide to go!! Have a look and be sure to listen to the videos as well. GM files for Z71 Trail Boss trademark
Mon, Jan 26 2015Try as they might to keep their plans a secret, automakers have their hands tipped through a variety of methods – be they through loose lips, spy shots or patent and trademark applications. That's how we know, in this instance, that General Motors is working on (or at least considering) an off-road machine wearing the name Z71 Trail Boss – the name which our compatriots at AutoGuide.com tell us that GM has registered for use on light-duty trucks. Now if that alphanumeric designator sounds familiar, it should. GM has long used it to designate the off-road packages on many of its body-on-frame trucks from Chevy and GMC. These days you can order a Z71 package on the Chevy Colorado, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban and on the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon. The package typically includes components like a beefed-up suspension bits, high-capacity air cleaner and underbody protection plates. The Trail Boss designator would seem to suggest something further reaching than a suspension package, though. Just what it would entail we don't know; minds immediately start running toward Chevy or GMC going after the Ford F-150 Raptor, but we'll likely be looking at something closer to the Trailhawk packages Jeep offers on the likes of the Renegade and Cherokee. Next-gen Chevy Cruze caught cruising in the cold
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Spy photographers have caught what looks like the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze out on snow patrol. The camo could be tricking our eyes, but it look like it has an even tidier, more rounded front end and even lower fenders in relation to the top of the hood. And either a chunk of camo has been wedged between the side mirrors and the doors, or the mirrors are up for revision, too.
The door handles have been moved up the side of the car, leading the way to a rear end that grows a bit in length. If the rumors are true, the coming second-generation Cruze sits on the new D2XX platform that will replace the Delta and Theta platforms at General Motors. A global architecture, the Cruze will be the first to get it, but it will underpin everything from next Chevrolet Volt to the Equinox and could be responsible for 2.5 million units by 2018. The next Cruze is expected to begin production in GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant in the third quarter of 2014.
Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
