Custom 1950 Chevy Pickup 1947 1948 1953 1951 1949 1952 Patina Hotrod on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Hello everyone here we have a 1950 Chevy 1/2 ton for sale. We found it in Santa Fe, NM and was modified with a 1978 Camaro donor car. Everything from the Camaro was used to upgrade the truck, this truck currently has no title the previous owner went to the MVD to get one but was no longer in the system(the truck had not been registered since the 70's). The truck did have rust on the floors and with the modification the floors have been redone, to house the transmission. If at anytime you have questions about the auction feel free to ask. Thank You! Engine: Chevy 350 Goodrich crate motor has about 3,000 miles on it topped with an Edelbrock Intake and Holly Carburetor and a Olds Tornado dual snorkel air cleaner headers with dual Flow masters that dump behind cab HEI distributor Transmission: Chevy turbo 350 came with Camaro transmission was currently rebuilt Suspension: Front suspension has disk brakes; power brakes; power steering; and stock setup from the Camaro. Rear suspension is also Camaro leaf springs with 3 inch lowering blocks and air shocks to help lift or lower rear end. Has standard 10 bolt rear end with drum breaks. Rust: Rear cab corners have rust we decided to leave them as to keep the “patina” look. The doors are solid and floors have been replaced as stated. Dash has been shaved for a clean smooth look and fire wall has also been shaved clean. Glass: All new glass has been installed with new rubber and doors have a new felt. Cluster: Fuel gauge works only. New aftermarket temperature and oil pressure gauges were added to the bottom of dash; both give normal operating temperature and pressure. Truck does run on original in-cab fuel tank. Interior: Serapes blankets with black carpet; tilt column; ignition key is located in column; original seat with aftermarket seat cover. Electrical: Truck uses the original harness from the Camaro. All turn signals high/low beams and brake lights are working. Exterior: All the exterior is how the truck was found in a Santa Fe field . Random holes (such as the antenna) were welded in to help patch up the cab then blended in with the original surface rust and paint. The truck has dents; and surface rust. The body is not perfect it is a field truck but is a good truck for restoration or keeping the “patina” look. Wheels: Truck sits on 15 inch wheels with half inch white walls and bowtie caps Auction terms and conditions: I’ve described the truck the best to my knowledge and if I am missing something feel free to e-mail me with any questions. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as it is for sale locally. 1000 American Dollars are due within 24 hours of auction close, and total amount due within 5 days of auction ending. This truck is sold as a project truck on a AS IS BASIS. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will help get the truck to a shipper locally only. Will also assist with loading. GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'
Mon, Mar 17 2014As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network
Wed, Jan 14 2015Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. Via Motors will launch the production of an electric Chevrolet Silverado. The company will convert the pickups into range-extended EVs at its assembly line in Mexico, near GM's Silverado plant. Via has the capacity to produce 10,000 vehicles per year at its Mexico facility. Via Motors Chairman (and former GM Vice Chairman during the early days of the Chevrolet Volt project) Bob Lutz wants to help make EVs mainstream in America, and believes that requires electrifying pickups and SUVs. Read more in the press release below. Bob Lutz to Announce Production Launch of the Electrified Chevy Silverado BY VIA Motors Media access to Bob Lutz, former Vice-Chairman of General Motors and father of the Chevy Volt Bob Lutz is now Chairman of VIA Motors who builds the "Volt Style" extended range electric drive system for the Silverado, the Express Van and is working on the SUV's (Tahoe, Suburban) 5 years in development. This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.
