If you have been waiting for a NICE DRIVING and HANDLING street truck, Stree Rod, then this is for you. 4 wheel disc brakes. * ******This is on the stock frame with a tubular mustang II front end with power disc brakes and power rack and steering. The steering on this truck is fast! Just a small flip of the wrist and you can handle a narrow winding 2 lane back road. This truck rides and handles like a new car. The rear end is from a 01 4wd s10 blazer with DISC BRAKES and SWAY BAR! Front and rear is bagged. The truck rides great about 4" off the ground. The compressor, tank and air ride stuff is under the bed out of sight to keep it all clean looking. * ******Powered by a rebuilt 350, GM 'X' rods with a great sounding cam. It has a SWEET sounding flowmaster exhaust and a nice mellow rumble. * ******The Bed Floor is old reclaimed oak lumber with hardwood poly clear on it. The Stainless bed stips are very tough and durable. No worries of scratching painted strips with your cooler, chairs or whatever your weekend requires because stainless is tougher than painted strips. * ******The Interior has had a complete makeover. New gauges, carpet, door panels, kick panels, headliner, seat, paint, wiring, and rubber. All the glass, weather stripping and fuzzies are new also. The corners glasses are original but very nice. The windows roll up and down with new glass, rubber, and channel fuzzies. No rattles from sloppy doors or glass. Both the side and top cowl vents work. * ******The Firewall on the truck has been smoothed and looks great. All hoses and wires are hidden for s cleaner look. The disc/disc master cylinder and 7" booster are under the floor to keep the firewall clean and keeps the stock brake pedal. * ******The tires are brand new goodyears on 15" chevy steelies with old school, old style wheel covers called "Flippers". * ******This truck has that look everyone loves with the old aged paint, fresh interior, modern suspension, and lays the running board on the ground. GM slashes prices in China as sales falter

Thu, May 14 2015

Buying a vehicle from General Motors' stable of brands might be a lot cheaper in the near future – at least for customers in China. The effort comes as GM hopes to keep sales there growing, and the decision alludes to yet another sign that the Asian country no longer has the booming auto market of past years. GM and its Chinese joint venture partner SAIC are slashing prices by as much as the equivalent to $8,700 on 40 models from Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac, according to The Detroit News. Across all of automaker's nameplates, the overall sales dipped in China in April by 0.4 percent to 258,484 vehicles. Among the drops, Buick was down 8.5 percent, and Chevy shrunk 5.6 percent. Caddy's numbers increased 4.6 percent for the month, though. Buick remains a popular brand in the minds of Chinese consumers, but according to The Detroit News domestic automakers there are starting to eat into the dominance of foreign companies in the market. The country remains important for GM, though. Late last year, it outlined a future strategy that included China as a major pillar, including a $14 billion investment to build five new factories and boost sales. Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017

Tue, Feb 17 2015

Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
