Pull out stairs..Roof ac blows warm. Would make a great work truck or collector. Truck was former SWAT vehicle in New Hampshire. Custom trailer hitch. I had to move the truck last week to have paving done, bought one new battery and truck started right up. when I tried to move the truck back the battery was dead...found that one battery cable was deteriorated and shorted out the battery. I'm out of work so I'm not buying another battery(I did replace the battery cable)> The two batteries will cost $360.00 locally. Condo board wants truck removed, so here it is at no reserve. Truck is sold in as is and where is condition. Like I said, I put one new battery in and it started right up. this has the 6.2 liter diesel paired with the same tranny as the hummer. Not fast but very powerful."

Truck was former SWAT vehicle with under 31K original miles....does run and drive but currently needs two new batteries, driver's side head light (24 volt rectangle...can not be found in a local auto part place) . I used the truck as a novelty to transport my pool team once a week to games ....we were called the bomb squad. The AC mounted on the roof does blow warm but I never had it serviced. One of the battery trays could use replacing at some point but still does the job. This would be a great work truck. Currently has the original benches/ stretchers in the back but they could be removed if you wanted more room. Some rust as would be expected around the bottom of both doors and in wheel wells...the box is aluminum so no rust. Back has interior lights, as well as movable spot lights inside as this was a military ambulance. There is a door between the cab and the box, a pull out stairs in the back and a custom installed trailer hitch. My condo board wants it out of here, so I must sell, ..since I am currently not working, replacing the batteries and headlight etc, will be new owners responsibility. The truck is being sold in as is where is condition, and must be removed as soon as possible. Any questions will be answered promptly and to the best of my ability. Aside from oil changes and fresh fuel/ stabilizer, I have not had to do anything to the vehicle except change the batteries over the last 7 years. The truck was meticulously maintained by the municipality before me. I am not a mechanic, so all I can say is the truck is driveable. The truck also does not have a horn since the siren was removed prior to sale. I never added a horn as it never failed inspection in the past.I have tried to list everything, and have been as honest as possible.

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
