It’s with a heavy heart that I’m offering this truck up for sale. I understand that to many, it’s just a truck. Something used for hauling truck stuff, but to me, it’s more than that. It’s a time machine to my childhood. I’ve grown up with this truck. As a child, I climbed in the bed, rode in the passenger’s seat, and sat on the tailgate. It's been owned by my grandparents since new, and thus, it’s been a big part of my life. My grandparents, who are the original owners of the truck, have finally reached a point where they don’t need it any longer, and thus, my childhood dream of owning this blue beauty has become reality. It's finally mine. Unfortunately, at this point in my life, I have neither the space nor the resources to give it a proper home, and as much as I love to fantasize about future plans for this sentimental piece of metal, it just isn’t economically feasible for me to keep it.
All sentimental value aside, this really isn’t your average 100K mi+ American hauler that’s been owned by several careless owners. It hasn't been ridden hard, put it away filthy, and left it to rot. No sir (or ma’am). This particular example, while not in impeccable showroom shape, is in incredible condition for being a truck that just celebrated it’s 30th birthday. In the eyes of the state of New Jersey, it qualifies as a classic. And the mileage? Equally as impressive. Only 53,540 miles grace the odometer on this fine piece of American iron. Why the low mileage? Well, this truck has never been daily driven. It was special ordered in 1982 for the primary purpose of towing a horse trailer back and forth to the trainer and the race track. Aside from hauling race horses; It has been used for truck stuff. The bed has hauled new furniture, old furniture, lawn and garden supplies and equipment, construction supplies, and even groceries. So, it’s been used regularly, but never abused, and it’s always been parked out of the elements in the same covered pole barn for the past 30 years. Cosmetically, the truck has great curb appeal, with the midnight blue paint being in excellent shape for it’s age, with only a few minor scuffs here and there, but nothing major. There is one piece of trim missing in the photos, it just needs to be reattached with double-sided tape. It’s never been in an accident, and it’s never had any paintwork done. There’s no rust on the body, and only surface rust on the frame. Inside, the headliner fabric will need to be reattached, as it’s sagging, but otherwise the interior is in phenomenal shape. The original color-matched vinyl floor mats are in great shape, and the seats and dash have no cracks. All gauges are operational, and the AC Delco AM/FM stereo works without a hitch. It’s been well maintained and taken care of over the years, and all service records will come with the truck, along with the owners manual, options spec sheet, and original keys. The truck does start, run, and drive, however, in June of 2013, the tags were removed and the truck has been covered up and parked in the barn since. It’s been kept on a battery tender, and also been started and pulled out periodically to keep the fluids circulating. The tires are nearly brand new, and the while the brakes are in unknown condition, they are more than capable of stopping the truck safely and without drama. That being said, this truck deserves to be more than someone’s rusty old scrap hauler, or a derelict farm beater. It’s a clean truck with a clean history, and I’d really like to see it go to a good home with an owner that cares. Somewhere out there, there’s someone who has a soft spot for the old GM pickups, much like myself, and this would make the perfect candidate for a light restoration or reconditioning, or whatever else might be in mind. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, I’ll do my best to answer them to the best of my ability as quickly as I can. This is an as-is sale. No refunds, returns, or exchances will be accepted. Buyer assumes all responsibility for local pick-up or transport. Equipment list and description: 1983 Chevrolet C20 Pick-up - Silverado Trim Build completed January 24, 1983 in Oshawa, Canada Midnight blue two-tone, with white roof, Blue vinyl interior 5.7L/350 c.i. carburated V8 (160 HP/250 TQ) THM350 3-speed automatic transmission 8600 GVWR tow rating / 131” wheelbase Options: Trailering Special Package (power steering, oil cooler, transmission cooler, 7-pin trailer harness, trailer hitch receiver, 63 Amp HD alternator) Dual fuel tanks (40 gallon capacity) Sliding rear window AC Delco AM/FM Stereo Intermittent Wipers Roof marker lights Floormats On Nov-27-13 at 15:07:23 PST, seller added the following information: I wanted to add some information that I missed putting into the original description, but cannot add due to the description being locked in. The drivetrain is 100% original to the truck; it's never been pulled, swapped, or needed any major repairs. It runs smooth, but is likely in need of a tune-up given the age. The oil was changed every year or 3,000 miles. There are a couple minor oil leaks, but that's to be expected with a vehicle of this vintage. The transmission shifts smooth and the gear indicator displays accurately. All gauges, lights, indicators, and warning lights work. Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Chevrolet Silverado reportedly getting the GMC Sierra's MultiPro tailgate
Mon, Aug 17 2020GMC reinvented the pickup tailgate when it added a six-way option named MultiPro to the current-generation Sierra it introduced in 2019. It kept this clever feature to itself as a way to differentiate the Sierra from the Chevrolet Silverado, but a recent report claims it will begin sharing it in the not-too-distant future. Enthusiast website GM Authority learned from anonymous sources familiar with Chevrolet's product plans that the Silverado will soon receive its own version of the MultiPro tailgate. It will be called either MultiFlex or Multi-Flex, a name Chevrolet has already trademarked, and it was initially scheduled to make its debut for the 2021 model year. Its arrival might be delayed until the 2022 model year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however. Chevrolet's Silverado and GMC's Sierra are nearly identical under the sheet metal, so adding the latter's six-way tailgate to the former will be a relatively straightforward and cost-effective process. Interestingly, GM Authority wrote engineers could add a seventh function to the tailgate, though it didn't reveal what they have in store. It's also not sure whether both trucks will get the new feature, or if it will exclusively be offered on the Chevrolet. 2022 will bring major updates to the Silverado and the Sierra, potentially including — as we've previously reported — an independent rear suspension. Interior upgrades will allegedly be part of the mid-cycle changes, too, but we still don't know if the Silverado will receive the tough carbon fiber cargo box available in the Sierra. In the meantime, motorists in the market for a Sierra will temporarily have fewer options to choose from. GMC has asked its dealers to stop taking orders for the regular- and double-cab variants of the truck, according to a separate report from GM Authority. Putting the slower-selling regular- and double-cab trucks on hiatus will allow dealers to build up their inventory of crew-cabs, which sell far better and are in relatively short supply. These restrictions will remain in effect until the 2021 model year, which starts on September 14 for double- and crew-cab models and on September 21 for regular-cab trucks. All three body styles will be available in 2021. Related Video:
Best Large SUVs of 2024
Tue, Dec 19 2023When it comes down to large SUVs, there's more to consider than price and just how large it is. First, it comes down to what's underneath the skin. Some are built on a truck-like body-on-frame chassis — this would be the traditional, literal definition of an "SUV." Others use car-like, unibody construction, which would make them a crossover. What really matters, though, is how you use them. For most American families, a large three-row crossover is going to be your best bet. They have loads of passenger and cargo space, and deliver superior fuel economy, handling and ride quality than those big traditional SUVs. They're cheaper, too. On the other hand, those traditional large SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition are better-suited for more heavy-duty tasks like towing. Most now have bigger third rows than big crossovers, while extended-length versions like the Chevy Suburban have way more cargo capacity behind their third rows than everything but an airport shuttle. As for luxury large SUVs, they fall into those same two categories as well, with American choices mostly being truck-based. The pros and cons of choosing one over another are similar. Below, you will find our list of the best large SUVs broken down into three categories: large family crossover, large traditional SUV and large luxury SUVs, which comprise both construction types. Best Large Family Crossovers | Best Large Traditional SUVs | Best Large Luxury SUVs Best Large Family Crossovers 2024 Honda Pilot Why it stands out: Exceptional storage and cargo space; unique second-row functionality; refined ride; versatile and capable TrailSport; advanced AWDCould be better: Subpar acceleration with lackadaisical transmission and engine response; so-so driver assistance tech Read our full 2024 Honda Pilot Review The Honda Pilot was completely redesigned for 2023. It maintains its predecessor's family-friendly packaging and overall focus, but it has injected a welcome sense of style (especially in the TrailSport pictured above) that makes it stand out much better from the big crossover crowd. The Pilot's restrained adornment and classic proportions are refreshing compared to the increasingly busy Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade and Subaru Ascent. Let's talk about practicality, though, which is ultimately the Pilot's best attribute.
2015 Chevy Impala Bi-fuel burns CNG, starts at $37,385*
Tue, May 6 2014Currently, the only natural-gas-powered passenger car offered for sale by an OEM in the US is the Honda Civic Natural Gas. Starting this fall, that long-running CNG car will be joined by a CNG-burning 2015 Chevy Impala for both fleet and retail customers. General Motors announced today that the car will start at $37,385, plus an $825 destination charge. That comes to $38,210 before taxes and options. Those options include two trim lines, the base LS and the upper-level LT. Chevy doesn't break out the details in the press release announcing the price, but you can see the trim details for the standard gas-powered 2014 Impala here. Exact information on the 2015 models is not available just yet, but GM spokesman Chad Lyons told AutoblogGreen that the equipment that you see listed on the site for 2014 is "almost exactly the same" as what will be available for 2015. The 2015 Impala gets around 19 city mpg on CNG, but official EPA numbers are not yet available. That means the LS will come with 18-inch aluminum wheels, electric variable-assist power steering, projector-beam headlamps, and 10 air bags. The LT adds an eight-inch touch screen with MyLink, premium Cloth interior and dual-zone automatic climate controls. The cost for this upgrade is unspecified. For CNG purposes, we can ignore the numerical prefix used for the gas-powered LT trims, since that denominates the engine type, and all the CNG models use a 3.6-liter engine with hardened valves and valve seats that can better handle natural gas. The trunk capacity also drops from 18.8 cubic feet to 10 cu .ft. in order to fit in the CNG tank that holds the equivalent of 7.8 gallons of gas. That amount of CNG should move you 150 city miles, which is around 19 mpg, but official EPA numbers are not yet available. With the addition of the gasoline on board, the overall range is 500 city miles. The car burns CNG when available and switches to gas with "no interruption" either when the tank is empty or when the driver selects the gas tank. Find more details in the press release below. GM says the CNG Impala will will be available nationwide this fall. CNG is a growing fuel in the US, thanks in part to fracking. The Civic Natural Gas, which starts at $26,640, is growing towards a nationwide availability. Next year, for example, the Shell Eco-marathon Americas in Detroit will allow CNG for the first time.
